I did 3dmark FireStrike tests, and so the first test is the only Nvidia GPU

The second test is Intel GPU + Nvidia.

The difference of almost 600 points in Graphics Score in favor of Intel gpu + Nvidia, I don't know why. Plus the laptop is quieter but also warmer by about 5-6 degrees.

Re: y540 heat and BIOS issues

2019-12-03, 16:25 PM

Hello,

I got Y540 (i7-9750h + GTX 1650 + 16gb RAM) and mistakenly updated my BIOS to latest version (33WW) from Vantage. Now my y540 not running well like before BIOS update. My question is can i use BIOS exe file that Nexon posted on page 2 to downgrade my laptop BIOS to 26WW?

And is there any risks in downgrading BIOS version?

Thank you

PS: Sorry for my bad English.

No, there are tons of users using 26WW and 27WW because of worse temps and worse performance newer Bioses possess. Potentially there can be safety risk, but that's really unlikely. If I can use it, you can use it too.

Thank you very much, Mr. Nexon

I will try to downgrade my laptop in this weekend with 26WW link you provided on earlier page.

Just enable bios backflash, execute bios installation file and wait the process. Am I right?

Re: y540 heat and BIOS issues

Hi guys, i've been reading this post for a couple of days and i got very usefull info about undervolting but i still having few questions about how to use my y540. i hope you can help me:

I downgraded from WW32 to WW26 and made this undervolting on Throttlestop:

     - BD PROCHOT: enabled.
     - Speedstep: enabled.
     - C1E: enabled.
     - CPU Core: -0.150/ CPU Cache: -0.125
     - Turbo boost long: 60 / short: 90
     - Performance mode on Vantage

I get around 3.7Ghz-3.9Ghz  all the time and i guess this are a "performance" settings but, can i just set on Vantage the quiet mode for gaming or do i have to create different profiles on throttlestop?

I saw recomendations like turbos long/short 40. i tried it and i got 3.9Ghz max but not constantly, should i use this for gaming?

I would like to know what is the best way to use the laptop for rendering, gaming and youtube.

Thank you so much!

Re: y540 heat and BIOS issues

Have users of this laptop tried elevating the rear of the laptop? I was just wondering how much (in degrees c) difference it makes?

Im thinking of buying this laptop and ideally I would want to use it without lifting the back. Is elevating the back a common thing to do with gaming laptops? If it is, I might as well buy it regardless.

Thanks in advance
