300GL 6285-80U Case Removal

This thing is old, but working, mostly.  I do need to remove a cdrom and an old tape drive, but how in the world does the case come off?  I do have the panel which allows access to the motherboard, but the oppostie side needs to come off, at least I think so, so that I can access the screws that hold the cd in place.  It may be that the top panel needs to come off first, but that is not coming off either.  Rubix cube!  Considering its age, a prybar may be my only solution.

I have downloaded the technical manual, but no discussion on case removal.. I can tell you the pci bus pinouts, though.  Jeez.

Re: 300GL 6285-80U Case Removal

Hi sdad, and welcome!

Whoa that's an oldie! Amazingly, there's a support page with PDF docs showing that:

Hope this helps!

I don't work for Lenovo. I'm a crazy volunteer!

Re: 300GL 6285-80U Case Removal

Bingo! Simpler than I was making it out to be. I had removed the screws holding the cd in place, but it was in there so hard that I assumed screws on the other side. Not so. No panels needed to come off. Thanks. I had search through web site, never found those doc's however.
