Disappointed: broken hinge

I have recently bought a Lenovo laptop. It's a Lenovo IdeaPad flex 5. I use it as a secondary device. I have never ever used this laptop in 360 mode  and this laptop has been used with 100% care. Yet, it has only been 4 months and the laptop broke down. The right hinge broke , display came off and etc. It has literally been 4 months only and I haven't folded the laptop even once yet and the hinges broke down. What would happen if I used it as my regular device and folded it few times. This clearly is a manufacturing defect. Whn I went to the support center. They started a repair for the broken hinge only. How is tht the solution? The laptop literally has manufacturing defect and it's fregile af. It broke in just 4 months without even intense use. I expected a product replacement or a refund. This is very disappointing from Lenovo. I request Lenovo authorities to reconsider. This is totally disappointing.

Re:Disappointed: broken hinge

Hello and welcome to Community,

I'm sorry that you experienced an issue with your laptop but happy to see that you are receiving assistance from support and your system is being repaired. As your system is clearly passed any DOA allowed time window you would not qualify for a replacement, service is the accepted route to resolution.

Re:Disappointed: broken hinge

Sir, I totally respect it. But I just received my laptop back from the official service partner of Lenovo Bangladesh, ' toggi service '. I claimed the warranty because my right hing was damaged. But now that I received it, while repairing the right hinge they caused serious scratches on my left hing. And also the cover over hinges on the left side is so loose that it's moving and I am afraid to use it in tablet mode right now. When I asked the service center about it, they said these are minor issue these happens . It's not a big problem. They also mentioned, Lenovo warranty doesn't cover these type of hinge broken and other physical damages of a laptop. But I sincerely told him that it has only been 4-5 months since I bought the laptop and the defects started to occur. It's a manufacturing defect, instead of properly fixing these they damage my laptop even more. Now they are telling me that Lenovo doesn't cover these damages. I literally still have over 3 years of warranty left. Does that mean in the next 3 years if the hinge ever breaks again, if the hinge breaks and damages my display too, Lenovo warranty will not support it? Lenovo will not take the liability? It's literally a 1 lac BDT laptop ! What is this? Please do clear me out.

Re:Disappointed: broken hinge

How can I do that? I tried to tell them that I am not happy and they said this are normal issues blah blah blah. These problems don't come under warranty etc. I am very disappointed with the service of Lenovo and the quality of this 100000 BDT laptop. Literally my previous 40000 BDT  hp laptop had better durability although being a Plastic build and they provided straight forward supports. Please I beg you provide the proper solutions and help me out . Contact the service and do help me out or just give me a refund or a replacement unit. This is very disappointing.

Re:Disappointed: broken hinge

I own a Lenovo IdeaPad flex 5 laptop. It has only been 4 -5 months since I bought the laptop from Ryans computer and the laptop already broke down. The right hinge broke down and the display popped out though it wasn't even used properly. It was used as a secondary laptop only and was never even used in 360 mode. Yet it broke down. So I claimed the warranty and after waiting for 16-17 days I got my laptop back. Ryans computer called me and told me my laptop was ready. Whn I went to take it , I see the right hinge was fixed but the left hinge had deep scratches and the whole plastic covering under the display was loose was moving the display was popped out at some places there was good gap between the plastic cover and the display so I told the Ryan computer about it and they replied the laptop went through servicing these are minor issues this are common Lenovo warranty doesn't cover these etc etc **bleep**.

The thing is my laptop was brand new. No scratches what so ever. Never used in 360 . Used it as an secondary laptop yet it broke down. This was unexpected. It's a 1 lac BDT laptop. It's no joke.

The Lenovo service provider also mentioned that , in future any type of hunger issue or physical issue will not be fixed by them or covered by my warranty .

I am so disappointed with these trash service of Lenovo service provider of Bangladesh.

I am honestly saying if this is the quality of service of Lenovo in Bangladesh and if Lenovo actually won't give me proper support than for god sake give me a refund I'll buy some other brand Laptop or just give me replacement of another Lenovo model. I can't deal with all these **bleep**.

Re:Disappointed: broken hinge

I have the same issue. Granted my warranty ran out last year, but this is a manufacturing defect! I am so disappointed! Talking to support they said this was a problem in the past and was fixed before i bought mine. So why did it happen??!! Screen is broke, loud is broke, can barley move hinges with my hands. As i said i couldn't be more disappointed in lenovo customer service. 😒

Re:Disappointed: broken hinge

I will say I purchase these for our business and I have no less than 5 of these laptops with the broken hinge issue. These are not used out of the remote workers homes and are not open and closed often .

Lenovo should issue a recall and repair program . It’s ridiculous.

Re:Disappointed: broken hinge

My husband and I both both a Thinkpad E16 and one of his hinges broke in the first year and now one of mine has broken in the second year of use.  I have had laptops for at least 20 years and have never had a hinge break before.  This is an obvious design defect and should be corrected and repaired at no cost.
