Hard drive failure - Lenovo ideapad flex 4

2020-11-26, 3:20 AM

My hard drive is not detected when I boot up.  I tried all the tricks I know and got brave enough to open up back.  I noticed this wire that looks burned near hard drive.  Not sure if that is problem or if drive just failed.  I have trip pics from my last trip before covid on this drive that unfortunately I hadn’t backed up.  Sigh...

Question: Do you think wire is issue and is that repairable so I can retrieve files from drive? Should I send to Lenovo or have someone locally repair?  I use this laptop primarily for travel so it hasn’t seen much action lately.  I have already purchased a new one but would like to fix this one if possible.
Thanks for any help or advice!

I cannot be sure and I don't have that model to examine.  My guess is that's the connector to the backup (CMOS) battery.  If that is true, it has nothing to do with the drive.  You need to try the drive in another machine or in a USB housing
