I'm looking for a STARTER DISKETTE for an IBM 5140 PC Convertible (IBM's first attempt at a laptop). I'm a retired IMer with two of these ancient machines, both work fine but lost the diskettes. I've searched on the WEB and on various IBM sites with no luck. I was directed to the following site recently but this link is apparently not working.
ftp://service.boulder.ibm.com/pc/pccbbs/refdisks/5140star.exe

Welcome to the forum!
Wow, that goes back a ways! Hopefully someone has a copy tucked away somewhere. I posted a pointer back to here over in TPF about it since a lot of people there have some really old stuff laying around. Good luck!

Thanks, Jane!
Yep, it really does go back a LOOONG way! When the 5140 was introduced, I had already been with IBM for 20 years.
FYI, another person responed with a link where various 5140 files could be downloaded, and I now have what I was looking for (and then some!).
Thanks again,
Bill

Hi,
I also got an IBM PC convertable. It's really a special piece of PC history.
I was trying to enter the BIOS setup manual without success. Is there any key or button I should press during boot-up to enter the BIOS setup manual? Or there is a unique way for this computer to enter BIOS setup manual? Thanks a lot!
