Re: Keyboard Flex discussion - T400 / T500 / W500 ThinkPad customers

2008-12-18, 12:16 PM

I'm considering to get a T400 as my next company laptop. Just wondering, when will Lenovo start shipping T400's with factory-replaced keyboard? So that I don't need to order a replacement separately?

I think this question is quite important, and we are several people to ask that. Could you please, Lenevo team, give an answer to it .

Thanks a lot.

Hi,

I sent a PM as well about my T400 (GERMAN) flexing/ Keyboard replacement.

No idea if it's still required to post the "Please email me" line, just doing it to make sure.

Thanks.

Tim,

I have received my keyboard in the mailbox today Dec 19 2008. I am happy with the keyboard. It the egronomics are identical but the backplate is solid.

Now no matter how long and hard I press the ....ssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss it would not flex on me.

Thank you Tim - this is my first Thinkpad and the customer support experience is respectable.

thanks

Received my replacement keyboard today ( T400 ) . My observations :

If I were to compare this replacement key board to the original one that came in with the T400 then I would say its like comparing a rolls with a second hand chevy.

Pros : Flex gone, same old think pad feel while typing, solid feel to the entire chassis.

Cons : Just a little weight added overall but way too less to even notice a change.

I would definitely recommend the replacement to members who are having second thoughts about it and I wish Lenovo would take all our feedbacks seriously and get the real "thinkpad"keyboard fitted in to their machines as an original shipment part.

The quality and feel differences are way too obvious to not notice and IMO is just not worth compromising for costs and weight considerations.

Thanks to Tim and Lenovo for the replacement.

Happy holidays and merry christmas, everyone.

Received my replacement keyboard today (Dec, 19), solid as a rock. Seems to be a T60 NMB for  those interested in such distinctions...

Tim, thanks for the fast replacement. I am very happy with the way this issue was resolved. Excellent customer service, thanks a lot. This is my third thinkpad and definitely not the last...

Same here in Toronto, haven't received the keyboard yet

Guess Lenovo Canada is a bit slow...
