this doesn't seem to affect the W700.   however, if your system is affected for some reason then it will be handled accordingly.

thanks for understanding.

From what I have read, this is not a ThinkPad W700 problem at least I hope not.

And I hope it come with the Latest Drivers and BIOS.

Hello everyone,

Sorry I haven't visited in a bit. I will be replying to PM's today, confirming receipt of your information.

The next batch of keyboards has been ordered, but due to the volume we had to order through a different process that will take a little longer. I will advise once I have a firm date of arrival of the keyboards here. Also, we are currently processing those who need non-English keyboards and they are being ordered case-by-case.

In all cases, people will receive a specific keyboard MTM in their language that is the old design. I can't guarantee which manufacturer it would be, but you will definitely receive the old design.

Thanks for bearing with us, I'll update when I have a more firm date!

Re: Keyboard Flex discussion - T400 / T500 / W500 ThinkPad customers

Hi Tim and Mark.

First, I want to thank you for helping out the thinkpad community. So here is my story.

I ordered a T500 last night to take advantage the last minute sales. However, after reading all the reviews and forum postings, I have decided that I'd better have my system build with the old T61 NMB keyboard to avoid the hassle of having it replaced later.

I called Lenovo sales today asking them to have my system built with the 42T3143 keyboard instead of the redesigned ones. Once I've explained the situation and the reason for such request, the sales person changed his tone and became very unfriendly. He asked me where I have been hearing all of these rumors. After I told him that there's sticky thread at the official lenovo forum concerning the exact problem, he put me on hold for about 5 mins. After he came back, he said he can give me the part number for the old T61 keyboard and transfer to the part sales department so that I can buy one by myself.

I have had problem with thinkpad before,( remembering my post about the T61p graphic problem) but I think lenovo was good at taking care of that and that's why I came back to thinkpad this time. I hope this won't be the last time. I would really appreciate it if someone here can help me out with this issue.

snake - that's funny, I got an e-mail from one of our sales reps asking about this just yesterday ;)

As I'm sure you've read, at this time we have no way to guarantee which keyboard you will receive out of the box. Howeve, please give your system a thorough test when you receive it. If the keyboard flex is not to your satisfaction, we will gladly take care of you.

I'd just like everyone to keep in mind that the keyboard flex is a very subjective, personal issue. Numerous people posted up upon receiving their new T400's early on, before we switched keyboard manufacturing, and said the flex was no big deal to them. Just as many, and probably a little more, also posted saying they were unhappy with the flex. Thus here we are offering this solution for everyone. But just because you ordered a T400/T500/W500/R400/R500 does not mean you will get a weight reduced keyboard and it also does not mean you will be unhappy with it even if you did! ;)

OK, I'm off my soapbox! :robotvery-happy:
