Re: Keyboard Flex discussion - T400 / T500 / W500 ThinkPad customers

I also have the T61 keyboard made by NMB, but I have problems anyway. The keys on the extreme right and left make a rattle noise, and the keyboard does not let the palm rest sit fully.

That's why this topic should be split in two...

Ok then I'm not the only one. I have the same issues - but definately also flex - and it just seems like poor quality compared to and older T61 or even my HP 6710 businness laptop. Thats why I figured that my T500 keyboard had that notorious inadequate design. It still is, but apparantly its the latest and greatest. I guess this is something I have to accept?

Eh, now I contributed to this mix of problems yet again. Lets hope a moderator follows that thread split request - it seems like a good idea.

What I did was to put very thin slices of rubber under the backspace, right shift, F1 and a small rubber rod under Caps Lock.

Noise from the keyboard is more or less under control now, although still not homogenous, but I'm not satisfied, because the palm rest not sitting completely makes noise and keeps me from resting the palms on it.

Lenovo and moderators, this subject needs attention.

Re: Keyboard Flex discussion - T400 / T500 / W500 ThinkPad customers

1. I've got a T400 in October 2008

2. I have used R32 before.

3. It creaks sometimes. I know that the other old type Thinkpad creak too. But my T400 sounds so weird. The left part of the keyboard has the abnormal flex problem. The F1 button is so hard to push down and it seems somthing broken under the button 4. Anyway, I don't like it. It's not the same as the keyboard I used on my R32.

4.Yes. If I push No.4 key on my T400. all the keys around it will sink with it. it is so annoying.

Re: Keyboard Flex discussion - T400 / T500 / W500 ThinkPad customers

Hi Tim,

I bought a T500 a few weeks ago and was really disappointed about the flex keyboard (german layout) - used to have a T61 at work - rocksolid...

Today I spoke to the admin in our company about the problem, he smiled - and sent me the link to this board. After reading some of the postings, I know this is the right place for my problem.

Can you help me out with this issue?

Kind regards

Thats what I thougt too, but nobody answers anymore to this thread I guess. Tim, if you still read this thread, please answer or sent me a PM. Otherwise I`ll have to think about anouther solution for the problem. I have no problem to wait, but it would be kind to hear if keyboard replacements are still done or not. Have the feeling that I´m waiting for nothing.

With kind regards

David

Hi folks,

Everyone who has PMed me up to the time of this posting has had their information recorded and sent to the respective teams for shipment. As before, customers outside of the U.S. will take longer to fulfill. For those outside of North America, I do apologize if you sent me your information a while ago and haven't received a keyboard. Due to the lower numbers of customers from those areas, I have needed to wait a bit longer to get sufficient groups that we can send out to be processed.

Regarding reciept of PM's: 99.9% of the time, I reply to PM's when I read them. I occasionally forget, but not often. If I have read your PM, you have gotten a response, just to clear up for those who are wondering if I have responded.

Attention customers in the China, Singapore, Hong Kong areas: We have been in contact with our colleagues in that area and determined that the best route to get your keyboards swapped would be to work directly with those teams. Please go to the official Lenovo China forum at http://www.thinkworld.com.cn/forum/ and register there. I can't point you to a specific discussion, but there should be an area there to discuss this and find out what the status of possible replacement is. I will be collecting the names of customers who have contacted me so far and sending them a direct message with this information as well.
