Parts shopping cart?

2008-05-22, 21:37 PM
Has anyone else had trouble over the past couple days with the shopping cart? I need a new A/C adaptor for my Thinkpad G40 2384-ATU, so went to the parts section of support/downloads and then went to the link to shop online and added it to the cart. For some reason, the part does not appear in the cart at all, but the total does. When I go to check out, it says that there is a problem with my cart and the order cannot be fulfilled.

I did this on Monday and today and it said the exact same thing each time. I tried adding just a keyboard to the cart and it worked fine.

Any ideas? Since I live overseas, it's a bit difficult to call the US, but if I had to, I guess I could.

Welcome to the forum!

I don't believe that you can buy anything from either IBM or Lenovo in the USA and have it shipped abroad...

Hi George,

Thanks for the welcome...

I don't want the parts sent to me here in Malawi, but to an address in the US. Could it be that IBM/Lenovo is detecting my IP address/location and blocking me based on that? If that's so, I may just need to use a proxy service to get through it.

Ideas?

Rgds

If you have an U.S.-issued credit card, you should be in the clear, meaning that the billing address is in the U.S.
Cheers,

George

Well... It didn't even let me get that far. In face, when I add the A/C adaptor to the cart, it doesn't even show up there, but the total for cart changes, so something is there. Then when I click on Check Out, it says that this is currently unavailable. It wouldn't have anything to do with the fact that I was using Firefox, would it? I guess I could try with IE or Safari...

Try IE and report on progress or lack thereof afterwards...Firefox never properly worked for me on Lenovo's site...

Good luck.

George

George,

Finally got around to trying the cart with IE and the exact same thing... When I try to save the cart, it says the part is unavailable. When I try to email or print the cart, nothing appears in the cart. But when I view the cart online, there's obviously something in there as the subtotal has changed from $0 to $59 (price of the adapter).

I thought it might be Java, but that's installed. This has happened on both of the computers I tried it on (OS X, FF; XP, IE).

Any other ideas? I'm going to try chatting with Lenovo support just now (for some reason never thought of that before).

Thanks!

Well, if Lenovo's support fails, you can always try eBay...although I'm baffled with this, since I've recently bought some parts online for one of my A31p machines...

Good luck and let us know.
Cheers,

George

Yeah, I've asked someone in the US to order it for me online. If that doesn't work, then I guess calling them is the only option. It's really weird... You would think the 120w A/C adapter is a common enough part. Oh well
