ibm net vista 8315 42-u usb ports

2010-07-26, 4:57 AM

:smileyhappy:  I have a net vista 8315 42-u usb ports 4 in the back and 2 in the front.  I have made numerous calls including the geek squad and no one knows which port or hub is the USB 2.0 enhanced?  there is only one while the others are 1.1.  How do I find the one which is 2.0 enhanced this shown on system devices hardware.  They don't include the port where it is located?

Appreciate any insights!

just use a usb 2.0 capable device, if an error pops up saying that this device can perform faster, then you would know the usb is running 1.1 mode and not using usb 2.0 mode. Try this with every USB port that you have on the computer.

thank you and really appreciate that advise.  The only problem my printer was made for 2.0 but found out it has backward capabilities.  But it originally did give that message until I played with it with the same port and your right it originally did give me that message until I attached this 2.0 port extender of 4.  then the speed issue never popped up.  Since then I moved it next port alone (the printer) and works fine.  Could you tell me a device that is strickly 2.0.  I purchased a USB 2.0 flash dirve?  should I try this f;asj drove with each port/hub?  Again thank you.

you should update your location to an actual country or city as per forum rule.

regarding the usb, download a software like Everest or HWinfo, then plug in a usb 2 device like the thumb drive that you told me about. If it is runs in usb 2.0 mode, then it would say that.
