where can I get a screw ?

Hi,

I have a problem with one screw, t430s, where I access the memory/ mini pci part.

the screw is nearly stripped, happend when I opened it, it is a really bad and soft screw.
so I need a replacement.

but where can I get one?

Is this a warrenty issue? can/will Lenove simply send me the screw

Hi a4z,

 

The Hardware Maintenance Manual calls out screw types and lengths.  Have a look at page 68.  Is that what you're after?  M2 x 5mm flat head.

 

In my neighborhood the local hardware store has them.

I have no idea if Lenovo will replace the screw. Most likely this is a standard metric screw so you might try a local hardware store. Or considering how rarely one needs to open it use a small piece of black electrical tape to hold the cover in place.

You could try buying one online, e.g. a search yields www.laptopscrews.com which is a site I've actually heard of before since a few people in the notebookreview forums have ordered from them successfully (although I personally have no experience with them).

(if the screws are easy to buy it is unimportant if they are in warranty, this would just matter if they are special and not easy to get)
