Yoga 2 Pro bluetooth disconnecting (now working fine)

2013-10-30, 13:42 PM

I've seen several notes here and in other forums about bluetooth disconnects on the Y2P.  I had this issue with a MS Sculpt Comfort mouse (http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/en-us/p/sculpt-comfort-mouse).

I tried removing the pre-installed bluetooth driver and allowing Windows to find me one.  Same problem.  Then I downloaded the driver from Lenovo (currently bt136w8164.exe).

After reinstalling this manually the mouse was recognized immediately and I haven't had an issue since.

FYI.  Hope this helps.

Re: Yoga 2 Pro bluetooth disconnecting (now working fine)

I've tried the newest Bluetooth driver from the Lenovo Yoga 2 site and the newest driver from Intel's site and both are unstable.  The most stable is the generic driver from 2006 if I totally uninstall and rollback the drivers as far as I can.  Right now I am back to the most recent driver from Lenovo and I'm fairly stable with occasional Bluetooth drops.  The easiest way I have found to get it back is to press the "airplane mode" button in the top row of keys to turn on airplane mode and disable Bluetooth (and wireless) and then hit it again and viola my mouse cursor is back in action.

I've tried all the energy mgmt., usb, don't put it to sleep crap with the same results.  I hope they fix this soon.  Very annoying!  Microsoft Wirless Presentor 8000 Bluetooth mouse in case you're wondering.

I have this exact issue. The bluetooth driver keeps crapping out.

When the driver stops working, device manager shows Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed)

Reinstalling the bluetooth driver works but this is ridiculous. Lenovo please fix your drivers

This is happening on a daily basis right now.

I called lenovo tech support and their only solution seems to be to keep uninstalling and reinstalling the bluetotoh driver.

Lenovo please fix this

Yoga 2 Pro Bluetooth stops working

2013-11-24, 2:25 AM

I have the same issues as the problems described here:

Today, the driver is doing something different. In device manager, after my bluetooth icon disappeared and my bluetooth device disconnected, instead of displaying an unknown USB device, under bluetooth category it says:

Intel(R) Wireless Bluetooth(R) 4.0 + HS Adapter

Except my bluetooth icon still doesn't show up, bluetooth settings don't exist and under PC Settings there is not option for bluetooth settings either.

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the bluetooth driver and it doesn't work. I have also tried repair and updating the bluetooth driver within Device Manager, neither of which are working.

The only solution that tech support has provided is that I should uninstall and reinstall the bluetooth driver. This worked until today. I had to uninstall and reinstall the bluetooth driver every day for the past week, and today, that doesn't even work.

As of right now, my laptop has no bluetooth and for $1100 this is ridiculous

I just did a full reset to original system state. After doing the initial setup, bluetooth drivers still didn't work and I needed to uninstall and reinstall drivers for bluetooth to work...

Does anyone make a reliable bluetooth mouse that connects to the Y2P w/o a dongle?

Re: Yoga 2 Pro Bluetooth stops working

I have the new 7260 AC card installed in mine and occasionally I will randomly loose my Bluetooth as you describe above but I also randomly loose my 5 ghz connection to my Asus AC66U router. Again, my quickest fix is to press the airplane mode button on and then off and things seem to come back but last night I had to do a full reboot to get things functioning again. 45 days will be up at Best Buy for me this Sunday. I have been as patient as possible but this is getting old. I really hate to drop 2 G's on a MacBook Pro right now but if it means basic things just work than I might have to go fight the Black Friday crazy people for a replacement this weekend.

I'm not sure if this is Lenovo, Intel or Windows 8.1 at fault but Bluetooth and dual band wifi have been out for a few years now. Let's get it fixed!  It looks like Intel might have another wifi driver option for me to try direct from Intel's site dated 11/13 or 11/15.  Maybe I'll try that???  I wonder why the wifi and Bluetooth drivers aren't just one file.  Aren't they on the same single piece of hardware?

Also, for those who claim they have no problems are you currently using wifi and Bluetooth at the same time?  Better yet, for those with the new AC card installed...are you using 5 ghz AC and Bluetooth mouse at the same time?

I know that this is a software issue. Uninstalling and reinstalling drivers seems to fix it.

In my case, I had to do a full factory reset but it does seem to be working ok now.

Lenovo, please update your drivers because clearly something isn't working

Re: Yoga 2 Pro Bluetooth stops working

My Y2P has been working fine since my factory reset until just now.

I plugged in a new USB flash drive, and all of a sudden my WiFi disconnected. Not just disconnected, but would no longer show available wireless networks, no matter how many times I switched the Wifi on and off. So I had to restart the computer. After I restarted the computer, bluetooth was gone again and the unknown USB device message showed up in Device Manager.

Seems to be a consistent problem.

Lenovo, if this isn't fixed I will have to return this laptop. I wish I could keep it, but I can't keep resetting it to factory settings every week.

Tried a MS Arch, could not make it work on BT without a dongle.  Took it back and got an MS Touch - seems to be working fine on BT.

I have had my Y2P for about 3 weeks without issue, and today my MS bluetooth mouse stopped working. I tried turning bluetooth on and off, but nothing. Tried reinstalling Intel drivers(from Lenovo website) and using Windows 8.1 default and nothing. I suspect the drivers are bad, as was the issue with the wifi. Please update drivers!

In addition to the bluetooth not working(althought the driver appears to be OK), I am also now getting other driver errors in the Device Manager.

Have you tried restarting BlueTooth services?  I have noticed that with only using the new mouse for the last 12 hours that it is loosing connection and requires me to power cycle the mouse.

Re: Yoga 2 Pro Bluetooth disconnecting (now working fine)

Well, this is just great. Horrible wifi now horrible bluetooth. I have had my pro 2 a week. I have been told that I have to buy my own wifi card, spend hours trouble shooting, taking the computer apart to install new card. Now i supposed I have to go through  the whole process all over again for bluetooth. An awesome computer rendered mostly useless by a company's MAJOR fail. I winder why they cannot anticipate the needs of their customers. I did not spend over a thousand dollars to start tearing it apart myself in less than two weeks with zero support from Lenovo. I'm done with this one and done with Lenovo.

I don't seem to have the wifi issues that people are reporting.

Either way, I returned my yoga 2 pro today and got the Surface Pro 2

Sorry Lenovo. I rely on bluetooth every day for everything I do, and I can't keep reinstalling drivers each time I want to use it

Re: Yoga 2 Pro Bluetooth disconnecting (now working fine)

I'm having the same problem.  I have a Lenovo N700 mouse and it worked fine for a few days in bluetooth mode, but now if it disconnects, say when the computer sleeps or is rebooted, it wouldn't connect again until I remove and re-pair it.  I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the Lenovo drivers and started getting the device 43 error.  Now I can't get the Lenovo drivers to work at all and had to go install the generic windows drivers.   At first I was also getting the device 43 error, and eventually I had to go to device manager, set it to show devices by connection, and then I removed every device from the bluetooth adapter upward until I removed the "Intel 8 series USB Enhanced Controller #1" device (I didn't remove the drivers, just the devices).  It's the device right below "PCI Express Root Complex" (don't remove this one!).  Then I restarted the computer and the bluetooth device came up under the standard Windows driver.  However, the mouse problem still exists.

This is a real pain.
