How to Recover a bad or brick bios in lenovo laptops:

1.Download Phoenix Wincrisis then Click on the WINCRIS.exe and choose CREATE MINIDOS CRISIS DISK and press START to make: USB Flopy or usb flash memory.
When creating the boot Floppy or usb memory, select from Folder Options to view the hiden and system files and delete or rename the file config.sys if present.
2. Download your Bios file from lenovo.com if u dont have it, Rename your BIOS file to bios.wph and copy it to your: USB Floppy/usb memory.
3.Plug USB Floppy/usb memory into laptop and shotdown.
4. Hold down Fn+R keys and while holding press the power button.
5. Now you should hear the flopy drive working or usb blinking, hold the keys for a while.
6. Leave the computer for few min. and if the computer does not restart it self turn the power down.
7. if everything went OK the computer shold start normally.
Download Phoenix Wincrisis Links:

Note: This procedure is for Phoenix BIOS`es only and this metod works only for lenovo.
VERY IMPORTANT NOTICE ABOUTE RECOVERY LENOVO LAPTOPS: Do not take off your battery before flashing unlike the others brand that you should take off battery!! It seems that before flashing, it verify AC/DC connection and battery level. If one of them is not ok, then reflash is stopped.

Hope to rescue your laptop. ;)

Betreff: LENOVO BIOS RECOVERY

2013-06-09, 17:43 PM

Hi,

i guess i bricked my IdeaPad S205 with deleting the entire boot order :/

As i can currently only use my flatmate's MacBook, i cannot use the wincris.exe as it (using Wine) doesn't recognize the removable USB media.... tried 4 different, none of them worked.

Could you maybe zip/rar your files so i could just unpack them to the usb stick? Or wouldn't this work as it would not be bootable after just copying the files?

Next problem:

Even on my Win7 64 bit machine @work i don't get wincris.exe to recognize the usb stick (although Win itself recognizes it - even as properly formated). What else could I do? Is there a way to create the usb boot stick using Win7?

Regarding http://s205blog.wordpress.com/2013/01/13/lenovo-s205-bios-recovery-updating-bios-without-installed-windows-os/comment-page-1/ i need a WinXP 32 bit system running. Can anyone confirm/deny that?

 Run as Administrator is not possible because i don't have the required password :/

Help would be very much appreciated.

Best regards.

Re: LENOVO BIOS RECOVERY

Hi,
As part of the setup of the brand new s300 (model 9803) I updated BIOS using the installation file provided here:
http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/research/hints-or-tips/detail.page?DocID=HT074467

during the installation everything went black, and now the laptop will not even power on.

Holding down Fn+R keys while holding and pressing the power button as described in hamidontop post does not work either.

Anyone has an idea how to address it?

Thank you very much for the help.
Elia

Hello elia-sh

   Try this:

     - disconnect the AC cable;

     - press Fn+B or Fn+R;

     - connect the AC cable;

     - press the power button;

     - after ~15 seconds release all buttons.

For me works on ideapad S300 (20197 model).
