Hibernate on a IdeaPad 310 Ultrabook

2012-08-02, 15:20 PM

I just bought an IdeaPad U310 Ultrabook, and I don't see the hibernate option. I checked on the Power option, but there is nowhere i can see to enable hibernate. Any ideas?

thanks

Hi!

the notebook is preconfigured to use intel rapid start technology, so it wont have hibernation button. Your notebook will hibernate automatically from sleep state after some time (it can be configured). This can be configured in the rapid start techoligy manager. Look for it in the start menu.

Hi,

I just received the computer yesterday. After i closed the lid last night, it went to sleep (with a light blinking). It's still blinking when I got up this morning. So auto-hibernation does not seem work on my unit.

I could not find the config application you mentioned. Can you kindly provide the full path/name for the app?

Thanks so much.

H.X.

Hi,

first you have to download and install it from the support page. And as far as I can remember it will be hidden for the user by default. If so, you can change this by editing the registry.

Intel RST settings

Set InvisibleMode to 0 and the manager will be avalibe on the taskbar.

Hope this helps.

Edit: the program is located in the
C:\Program Files (x86)\Intel\irstrt\RapidStartConfig.exe

folder.

R.

Thank you so much! This works. I cannot imagine I could figure this out myself. So cryptic :-)

Best regards,

Thanks packrat for the tweak. Just would like to give my opinion that changing the registry would be a bit risky that someone may mess it up and cause issue to system. For those who are technical, they could give it a shot.

Also, there is a solution in microsoft site that I'd like to share with the rest of you. Give it a try, no harm done.

How do i access the intel rapid start manager? I don't see it on the start menu. I would like to configure when the computer goes to hibernation. Indeed, i cannot hibernate from the shut down menu.

Thanks

I seem to be having the same problem--my computer does not hibernate. Also, I cannot access the Intel Rapid Start Manager from my start menu to check the settings. I see the driver and application files on my hard drive, but can't find program on the start menu or through search. U310 Touch Windows 8 24 GB SSD IRST enabled on BIOS Do I need to do something to make the Intel Rapid Start Manager visible? Thanks.

If it helps anyone, I was able to change the intel rapid start program to make it visible using the registry editor as packrat indicated. In windows 8 you need to search for regedit and follow the file path indicated by packrat. Thanks!
