Missing bluetooth module on Ideapad Z500?

2013-05-14, 16:25 PM

Hello everybody,

I have recently bought an Ideapad Z500 notebook in a computer shop in Italy, and I think it is a special "cheap" version available only in that shop for a limited period of time.

However, I thought that this notebook had a notebook module, but it seems that it is missing in this version (I couldn't connect any device, I cannot find any reference to Bluetooth in control center). How can I be sure that it is really missing and that it is not a software problem?

Install an application which is "Everest Ultimate" or "AIDA64".

You can get information about your all computer compenents in details thanks to those applications.

Try and see. If you dont find exactly what you want, I can help again in detail.

This can sometimes happen, in the UK when I compared the built for PC World version of the Y580 HD (1366 x 768) and the Lenovo website Y580 FHD (1920 X 1080), PC World version was priced slightly cheaper by £30.00 than the Lenovo website version but had quite a few less features.

So I purchased direct from Lenovo.

A quick easy check, is to go to control panel, system & security, system, device manager and see if you have a device entry for bluetooth.

Hopefully your Z500 model does have the bluetooth module.

Sorry for the late reply, I just checked with AIDA64 and I cannot finde any reference to a Bluetooth device, so I assume the module is really missing. And I have also discovered that my wireless card is a Broadcom one and not an Intel one, that maybe is present in the high-end configuration of the Z500, so this could be another point in favou of the fact that the Z500 I own has a "basic" hardware inside.
