New u310 WIFI (FIXED)

2012-10-14, 13:47 PM

Called up Lenovo Support and the tech logged into my laptop (wired for now) and showed me how to increase the wireless power settings.  Changed it from low to high.  (unplug from wired and reboot) Now downloading at 36Mbps to 45Mbps on wireless.

Right click on Intel Centrino Wirless-N 2200 click on properties

click advanced

click on Transit Power and changed the value to 5. Highest

Roaming Aggressiveness change value to Highest

Now downloading at 36Mbps to 45Mbps. FIXED :)

btw: my manufacture date is May 29 2012

Ideapad U310 Wireless FIX

2012-11-09, 17:39 PM

If your wireless connectivity is not working for your U310 i HAVE THE FIX. After talking with Lenovo tech support they had no answers for me. Then i went to Microsoft and spent two hours on the phone with the techs screen sharing on my ideapad. No fix was the end result. SO being tech savvy i took matters into my own hands, heres how to fix your wireless connectivity.

Step one: make sure you have all your intel wireless (wlan) drivers installed and updated for windows 8.

Step two: If you have Lenovo Energy Managment installed for Windows 8, REMOVE. This is where the problem lays. To remove go to your programs and features and uninstall.

Step three: Go to Lenovos website and go to the support page. http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/default.page?

Now select the Power management tab and download the file. What you are doing is downloading a previous verison of the driver, Windows 7 Pro. The driver worked flawlessly for windows 7 so it will work once again.

Step four: Now that your file is dowloaded, do NOT run setup. From your start menu (tiles) find your Compatability Mode program under Settings, windows 8 calls it something "run a previous version of windows with an older..." Compatability mode will pop-up.

Step five: Click next on the program. Select not found under the list of issues. Click Browse. Find your downloaded Energy Managment file and click next. Do NOT click try with recommend settings, select your other option. Click the check box for Windows worked with a previous verion of Windows. Click next. Select Windows 7. Click next. Then click the button that says Test Program.

Step six: IF you have downloaded a version of Energy Management before, select YES TO ALL when prompted. Follow the install prompts as you would normally do. If you have prompts for compatablility issues, just hit the Run Without Help.

Step seven: After the install a restart will prompt you. After you restart your computer you will have another Run Without Help prompt, click that option.

Step eight: Now that install is finished, hit your "WiFi" button on your keyboard. The original GUI will pop up and turn your wireless internet on.

Step nine: scroll to the bottom right of your screen and Right Click your network connections and select Troubleshoot problems. Follow the instructions to turn your Wireless connection on.

Step ten: Final step, Select your wireless network and connect :)

Thats the steps. Thanks for NOTHING Lenovo

Thanks so much, I think I will try it.  However, mine came with windows 7.  Would that change the steps at all?  Thank you.

Thanx for sharing. UR the best.

I've got the same problem on my U410, and this solves it (without all the painfully and useless calls).

Looks promising, but can any one confirm if similar stes helped with Win 7? btb, i have taken my Lenova personally their service center and, according to them, they have added some abosrber in the motherboard that will boost wifi. However, when i reach home and tried connecting to the internet, it was worst!! now, even if i sit next to the modem, the PC freezez every now and then. i made a big mistake by buying this piece of crap!! please...any one out there resolved the wifi issue, let me know as lenova support simply sucks!!

Re: Ideapad U310 Wireless FIX

This fix is for those who upgraded from Windows 7(home premium) to Windows 8 Pro and lost the WiFi on/off radio switch. My system started out with Windows 7 (installed from Lenovo) and the Energy Managment driver for Windows 8 from Lenovo is still crap. You want to install any version of Windows 7 Energy Managment from Lenovo drivers. Follow the steps from the first post and you will have WiFi once again :)

Hope this helps, any other questions just let me know

take care

Sounds like you need to flash your BIOS back to factory settings (bios found on the drivers and support for your device). Also check your Wireless card to see if the settings are set to the maximum level.
