No Wifi Connection After Fresh Install WIN7 On Y510 Ideapad

2012-11-02, 2:57 AM

Upgraded to a bigger hd and win7 home premium. Install went flawlessly with one exception - no wifi on intel wireless wifi link 4965ag. Troubleshooter shows network adapter "not connected" and fails to pass "association test" on proset wireless software. Lenovo shows only vista and xp drivers for intel 4965ag. Went to Intel site, ran their analyzer and it concluded I had best driver installed.

Here's my thread at M$ this wireless connectivity issue is HUGE under Win7.

I also posted at Intel site, one helpful reader suggested I try here at Lenovo.

Anyone with this issue when upgrading to win 7 and how you solved it would be great! I have been working on solving this for 3 weeks and I'm stumped. Thanks ahead of time for any help. Matt125

Ah-Ha! Energy driver did not work. Do not know if deployed correctly. M$ failed to make Win 7 Backwards compatible with Intel 4965ag. SOLUTION: BUY A USB WIFI! THIS SOLVED PROBLEM OF NO WIFI CONNECTIVITY. USING MEDIA LINK USB WIFI. SOLVED. THANKS FOR THE INPUT!

Hi

Welcome To Lenovo Community

We are really sorry to hear about the issue you are facing,

The issue is caused since hotkey drivers are required to enable Wlan device

Since Lenovo has not released Windows 7 drivers   for IdeaPad Y510

You may try the following driver to check if you are able to get the hotkeys working

Lenovo Energy Management

After installation restart the system, Then Press Fn+ F5 to activate Wireless Devices

Ensure Wlan hardware switch is on

Do give this a try and let us know

Hope This Helps

Cheers!!!
