Bluetooth Device Not Working Properly

I have a new IdeaPad Y550P and am running Win7 Ultimate 64 bit. I have installed a Microsoft wireless (Bluetooth) keyboard and mouse. They work fine for awhile and then the IdeaPad drops the connection. So I get and install a different MS Bluetooth keyboard and mouse and am getting the same problem. I have searched the site for an updated Bluetooth driver and see there's nothing at all available for the entire laptop.

 

Is there a way for me to get the Bluetooth radio in the IdeaPad to keep working like it should?

Hey guys, I had the same problem with my ThinkPad Bluetooth Laser Mouse recently. I'm using Win7 Pro64 on a Y550p and have had the mouse stop working after it falls asleep. I had to restart the system or reinstall the drivers every time I wanted to re-engage the mouse... The trick to making it work was:

 

1. uninstall the Bluetooth driver from Device Manager.

2. restart system.

3. install new Bluetooth driver from lenovo drivers page.

4. open Device Manager.

5. open Bluetooth Radios menu.

6. go to your Bluetooth driver (not the Microsoft one).

7. go to Power Management tab.

8. UNcheck the box "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power"

 

That should fix your failing BT devices.

update your bluetooth drivers for window 7 from here.

before that, un-install the previous drivers and restart your computer if asked.

Bump 1 i have intermitent bluetooth mouse problems as well.

I did this; uninstalled bluetooth drivers, rebooted, reinstalled new drivers from the link provided, rebooted again, and am still having the problem.

uninstall bluetooth drivers, restart your computer and try this

windows 7 users: please be sure to select the 'save' option and not 'run' when prompted, as the run option is not working correctly for windows 7 RC / IE8.

Thanks, but that appears not to have worked either. When I uninstall the BT radio and remove drivers from the computer, and then reboot, Win7 runs out and installs generic drivers before I can run the new .exe saved to my computer. I then go run that .exe and it simply tells me my BT is up to date. The problem is intermittent; it will stop working for 5 minutes and then start working again. The problem is, however, I can put the Lenovo away and use BT mouse, keyboard, external monitor which makes my literal desktop a nightmare.

 

I really, really appreciate your attempt to help however, thank you.

Tried but still does not work

 

Go this when installing.  I installed and even uninstalled the bluetooth module from system.

 

"This program cannot upgrade your software.  Please contact the manufacturer of your Bluetooth device for support."

 

Any other suggestions?

first, i suggest you to update your bluetooth drivers from broadcom.com; still not working, use lenovo windows 7 driver; still not working, using vista 32 bit or vista 64 bit drivers for windows 7 may fix your issue.

can you tell me which bluetooth manufacturer currently using?

by the way, if there's any cd given with your device, try to install its application.

 

 

by the way, there's available bios update for y550p ( windows 7 32 bit ). i suggest you to update it, too.

Running Win7 64-bit ultimate. I will check for BIOS update. Believe it or not, no disk came with the computer. It was running Win7 Professional out of the box and I paid for the Win7 Ultimate upgrade. Problem was persistent in both versions.

 

I'll post back after trying your recommendations.

Very sorry to report that none of that worked either. I did more online poking around and found the following comments on a store website under "Cons about the Y550P":

 

Cons: - Bluetooth is intermittently unresponsive. Hoping that there will be some updated drivers.

 

I am hoping too. :smileysad:
