Re: 10 Reasons Why Not To Root Your Lenovo Phone

I'm giving some reasons why we should root our Lenovo phone.

1. We bought our expensive mobile to get all features. But they forget to give basic feature of video calling.

With root we can do anything with our phone.

2. Lenovo team coming into view that they are very slow to give update to resolve our problems. If they gives update then updates are buggy or not complete issue resolving.

Sorry admin for this type of post. But I have to do this. Because I am frustrated with my Lenovo device as it does not support basic feature of a smartphone.

If you do not want me to root my device then look into the biggest issue.

Thank you in advance.

Re: 10 Reasons Why Not To Root Your Lenovo Phone

The only reason for me to root my phone (K5 Note A7020a48) was to install Cerberus - an anti-theft app- as a system app to prevent it to be deleted from my phone in case of a phone reset and unlock additional features like phone screenshot, screen recording and location tracking (it auto turns on the location if it was disabled).

Android Device Manager which is built-in to the phone has was too many limited capabilities when compared to Cerberus. It is quite a letdown when today's phone dosen't have any improved anti-theift built on it eventhough now phone is one of the primary storage of sensitive infromation and the only option for me, if my phone got stolen, was a remote wipe option and a ring option that doesn't even work (I tested it) which is very very disappointing.

I'm waiting for Lenovo's Nougat update fro K4 NOTE, but if Lenovo stops support for K4 Note, I'll install Nougat 7.1.1 based Lineage OS 14.1.

Re: 10 Reasons Why Not To Root Your Lenovo Phone

Previously owned the Lenovo K3 Note K50-T5 (in the United States) using Rom 1611 + Root +Gapps at needrom, download/1611-dev-official since this was a China phone bought at Gearbest.  The update from Lenovo-China (pre-motorola acquisition) caused the update to covert everything to China Playstore and graphics which couldn't be changed.  It made sense to root and upgrade the Android OS.  Still, some apps had to be placed (quarantined) in a folder such as system updates.  I recently had hardware damage while on vacation at the beach so I needed a new phone.

Since the acquisition of Motorola and sales of Lenovo phones in the US directly from Lenovo, you can now find phones on their website (previously non-existent for US customers).  After recently purchasing a Phab2 for only slightly more than my K3, I noticed it had NO Bloatware, worked instantly with T-Mobile/GoSmart.   At $200 less discount of 20%, you can get one or smaller Moto phones for $160.  No China language, no China apps, upgrade support yes, no strange China web pages, No China prompts for updates, System updates in English, better symetry between google apps and microsoft apps, such as contact and email apps without using proprietary Gmail app.  No (+1) dialing issues or text contacts recognition due to international US +1 requirement.  A bare bones basic phone with the ability to download only the apps you want on Google Playstore with Android 6.0 Marshmallow and slightly better hardware.  I can say this for the Phab2 ONLY but would imagine the other phones would be equally strong.  More unlocked smartphones have emerged in the US with better pricing vs a couple of years ago.

The UI in the US phone did not have theme updates which would convert app buttons, themes, and sounds but it's a small consolation.  It also didn't have as many gestures or experimental UI options but that could change with updates.  Overall, satisfied.

Exactly.

Give the choice to the users to choose. Do not dictate.

Its been almost a year since K5 note released and we are yet to see any Root or nougat.

The admins in this forum are the laziest or the least caring people.

Re: 10 Reasons Why Not To Root Your Lenovo Phone

Hi i have the Lenovo K30-T      TD-LTE    and i had the full bloatware so I tried a few ROM and had it working ok then I had a load of Chinese symbols on the screen so had to hit one to get out and that when the phone stopped working right because the home screen would not come up with the i-cons ... anyway it sat in my draw for about a year and i had another go -- but still with no luck --- so a few months ago i give it to my mates son because he is good and fixing things to and i had it with trying to fix it ---but he also had no luck --but since getting it back its in some kind of boot loop or it just has the white lenovo screen --and then i try to put it into recovery mode it just does not happen !!!

I would like to get the phone working as i like this model with twin sim and the right size and very light -- but if have it any longer the technology will be to dated for much use any help would be appreciated thanks Mark
