Can't Download OTA Update with mobile data | K8 Note

Hi,

 

Today I have received a new patch after Oreo update on my K8 Note:

 

 

 

 

But I can't download the update with mobile data. Here is the error:

 

 

 

I am sure that data saver is turned off. I have restarted the phone several times, even tried to download in safe mode:

 

 

 

Making sure that data saver is turned off:

 

 

 

Have you guys tried to download this on mobile data? What is the solution?

 

Please don't advice me to reset my phone. I'll use wifi tomorrow if no solution is available. I have created this topic to inform all about another issue of Lenovo.

Edit: Googled for a solution, seems Moto phones had same problem (visit https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Moto-G4-Moto-G4-Plus-Moto-G4/Moto-G4-Plus-System-update-paused-quot-Turn-off-data-saver-to/td-p/3960572), no solution was provided other than factory reset.

Thanks for this reply. As you have confirmed you downloaded the update successfully using mobile data, I searched a lot in settings, and guess what, I have resolved the issue:

Solution:

This app is responsible for downloading the update:[oldimg]132760i6F095EA0568CF717[/oldimg]

 

 

You have to make sure that background data restriction is disabled for that app FOR BOTH SIMS.

I have two sim cards inserted on my phone, but SIM2 is disabled. Background data was restricted for that app on SIM2 (I didn't do the restriction, and this shouldn't be an issue as I am using mobile data on SIM1).

To lenovo: First of all, the error message is incorrect, it should be very specific. And even if data is restricted for a sim that is disabled, it shouldn't be an issue for downloading the update.

However, it is recommended to use stable Wifi connection to update the devices. Since, mobile data might have network fluctuation some time.

Same was the case with me earlier, then turned on a hotspot from another phone and downloaded the update(196mb),you could do that too but make sure you turn wifi data saver off.
