Re: K8 Note Massive Battery Drain 1% Per Second between 1-25%

Hey lenovo and help support,

Please tell me steps to downgrade my k8 plus (in warranty) from Oreo 8.0.0 version to Nougat 7.1.1 as i am facing half day to charge my phone problem. I didn't find help by

1. Changing charger,

2. Changing cable

3. By resetting (settings and complete) my phone.

4. Using in safe mode

5. Calibrating battery by keeping 1 hour extra charge after 100%.

I thougt Charger would be causing problem but charger worked absolutely fine (40-45% of 4000mah in 1 hour) to other phones.

it seems to be a software problem as k8 plus September patch update disables to differentiate between AC and USB power source. It only shows charging on USB besides on AC supply.

Second problem is fast drain of battery because all 8 cores are always active whether being on normal usage. Optimize this as well.

I tried every step but nothing helped me out. Charger worked perfectly with other phones proves that charger is absolutely fine.

Lenovo work on this problem  first as a lot of my friends are also having this same problem. Rectify this problem first asap as it is annoying and irritating to charge for half a day. Please help me.

Re: Lenovo K8 Note Issues

I am also facing similar issues. Phone shuts down anytime (like instant off) and then when I boot up the phone the battery percentage drops suddenly to ~15%. This has happened multiple times.

In addition to this I also have issues, as mentiond in this post:

https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/K8-XT1902-Smartphones/K8-Note-Massive-Battery-Drain-1-Per-Second-between-1-25/td-p/4251802

But no one at Lenovo even dares to reply. I am very disappointed and done with this Company.

Hi kk9999gada,

Sorry we missed this post. May I know which troubleshooting steps have you done so far?

Please update your profile with current phone, carrier and IMEI-- this will help me investigate. Please make sure that the options under Settings > Lenovo Privacy are on as well, and let me know (just reply here) if it's okay for me to look at your apps to see if they are a source of problems.

Need help updating your profile? See here. https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Forum-Feedback/Complete-your-forums-profile/td-p/3339943

Re: Lenovo K8 Note Issues

I have  already updated my profile and yes, lenovo privacy options are also enabled.

After Oreo update I had formatted the phone because it was a major update. So, formatting again for battery drain won't make any sense. It seemed like most of the issues were gone after second oreo update but after some time and more updates the phone has become unreliable. I think that last few updates have messed up battery calibration.

To measure battey drain I have installed Wakelock Detector (no root) with adb permissions granted and also have Greenify installed (working in no root mode using accessibility service). I have more than 130 apps installed on my phone and ~95% of them are force stopped/hibernated so there is no chance that battery drain is being caused by some app. I have also performed Antutu stress test and it shows CPU is throttling badly. I have attached image containing Stress test result and also Wakelocks. Most of the issues seem to be related with Kernel. Oh! and about that "ttyC0" wakelock in screenshot. I am currently using Data on Jio thats why "ttyC0" is in second place. If I switch to Data on first sim which is Airtel then that Wakelock goes to first place because there is no support for Airtel/Vodafone VoLTE on this phone.

I also want to know why Lenovo is not giving even a basic update for enabling VoLTE on Airtel/Vodafone network. For enabling VoLTE we need to update CSC modem files which Lenovo isn't doing.

Currently two major things are on priority for me that needs to be resolved:

1. Airtel/Vodafone VoLTE.

2. Massive Battery drain.

I assure you it's never gonna get fixed. In the end, they'll copy-paste the same message asking you to visit your nearest service centre!

Re: Charging and battery issue

2018-11-09, 20:52 PM

Hi Kamleshtiwari,

This is not typical. Is phone being used while charging? Have you tried other chargers? Make sure to follow this checklist for your charging system and charging habits.

- Use only the approved wall charger (one that shipped with the phone). Check to ensure both charger and USB cable are correct.
- Plug the charger into your device and connect to an electrical outlet (tip: try a different outlet)
- Using the phone while charging will impact the actual amount of charge a phone will receive and the charging time.
- The type of charger used may impact battery performance. Use a wall charger whenever possible. Vehicle Power Adaptors and USB charging via a computer will charge at slower rates.
- Try also to boot your phone in Safe mode while charging

Let me know if this makes a difference.
