Unable to update to Android 8

2020-05-10, 5:10 AM

I had bought a Lenovo K8 Note for my brother. It came with android 7 out of the box. I ad previously got the same model for myself and I noticed that mine was running Android 8. So I wanted to update my brothers phone. But it didn't update. It told me that there were no updates but there was supposed to be a update to Android 8 because of the android upgrade Road Map provided by Lenovo. Please help me with my issue. I have also tried using the LMSA app on PC to try update the phone. Please help. Thanks

Hi StarGazr,

Thanks for your reply. In this case, it is recommended to submit the device to service to manually flash the software or repair the device.

Best regards,

Hi StarGazr,

Greetings from Lenovo,

Thanks for posting, we want to look further into this, if you can update your profile with the IMEI of your device, this can help us investigate and see what's causing the disconnect. Also can you please let us know what's happening when you try to update using LMSA. please share screenshots if you have any.

Thanks

Sandip

Hi Vikashkmr710,

Thanks for reporting. Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the Rescue and Smart assistant from your PC?

Hi Sandip. Sorry that I have taken a long time to reply back. I have updated my profile with the IMEI number of the phone. It is the one that uses only Wi-Fi and does not have a carrier. I have attached screenshots of the LMSA tool as you have requested as a separate post. The app says "You have the latest Update." Thanks!

Does it matter where the device was purchased? if it comes in a box, with a Lenovo logo and other documentation, it shouldn't matter where a said device was purchased. The Phone I have was not purchased second hand if that is what you wanted to know.

Hi StarGazr,

Yes. We need to make sure that the phone was bought from us and/or from authorized reseller. Looks like you have your profile up to date with the details we need, I will see if I can have someone to check this and confirm why the phone isn't getting the update.
