Lenovo G560 problem with fans

2010-10-09, 10:28 AM

Hello,

Recently i have noticed, that my laptop is more noisy or rather that the fans aro on more often. The fans are on even if I work ordinarily with my laptop (surfing the web in one tab without flash and so on). Using EVEREST home edition I found out, that the temperature of the cores of the CPU is betwean 40°C - 50°C, GPU mostly doesn't go under 50°C and harddisk is about 45°C. Are these temperatures OK, or are they too high? In addition, my notebook is about 3 weeks old, so I supose the ventilation system can't be clogged with dust yet. And I have another question. Is it possible to get the service manual of this laptop somewhere? Thanks for answers.

John

@All,

Engineering has advice that the new BIOS has been uploaded to the web.

Please note that the BIOS name is the same as the previous one however the previous one has been brought down and replaced with this one. (Note on the date modified in the BIOS page).

Bios Here

Notice: If BIOS version of the machine is older than 29CN26WW (V2.03) (not included), 29CN26WW (V2.03) BIOS must be flashed at first before updating to 29CN38WW (V2.15) or other latest ones.
The details please refer to the tips:
http://consumersupport.lenovo.com/au/en/hintsandtips/hints_show.aspx?id=12985356555620

Please note that the fix is only for Type A users

Type A users - Fan running at 100% after waking up from sleep mode

Type B users - Fan running at 100% upon booting up.

Type B users would need to contact service center to get the engineer to apply the fix.

Lenovo G560 issue - fan never stops

2010-10-28, 13:30 PM

Hello,

I've got an annoying problem with my Lenovo G560 - as soon as I turn my laptop on, the fan starts up and never stops. No matter if it's completely idle (CPU usage around 5-10%) or if it posts - the fan is always running. The temps are also fine. The laptop is almost brand new, I've got it only for a few days and the problem is present from first startup. I've tried to check BIOS (latest one from Lenovo support site)/Energy Management (5.4.0.8) settings - there's nothing about fan control. Is there any way to change fan's speed manually? Or maybe there's another way to solve this problem?

Thanks for help,

Wikar

The fans are just running, running, running.. Same problem with other/older models. Lenvov will say there is nothing wrong with it. Get used to the noise and forget about using this machine in anywhere that is quiet. (like a library).

Same here... Especially after wake up the fans never stop. I was hoping the 2.08 bios version would fix the problem. I sent my G560 to Lenovo, they switched the logicboard, ran the tests (which are, according to them, all ok), but the fan issue persists.
