YOGA Home 900 27 Power On after Shutdown

2016-03-14, 22:33 PM

Hello

Just purchased the 900 27. The issue I'm having is the following.

I click the shutdown (Windows Charm -> Power -> Shut Down)

The computer shuts down and then a few seconds later it powers up on its own.

I think I've tracked the issue down to the keyboard which is a 3rd party logitech wireless keyboard which I keep plugged in all the time so I don't have to worry about charging it.

I've turned off all the relevant advanced power settings but still it powers on. Any ideas would be helpful.

Thanks

Welcome to the Lenovo Community !

Does the same thing happen if you hold the Shift key and then do the Shut Down?   Doing so will do a full shut down of Windows.

Here is a good article on resolving wake up issues with Windows.  I suspect you have tried some of them, but the article maybe worth reviewing.

I tried the power settings but your link that showed me the device settings to disable power on with the keyboard seems to have solved the issue. Thank you!!!

I spoke too soon. I tried restarting a couple times and it powered off once and then the 2nd time I powered off it started again.

I then tried your solution to hold the shift key and that seems to work. Is there a way to configure the windows charm -> power -> shut down to shut down like the shift key is being pressed without actually pressing the key? For me its no problem but my dad is older and likes things to be as simple as possible. Thanks again!

I tried the remaining steps from the link you provided and it looks like the network card needed to have the power on disabled. The "magic" packets described in the link seem to have been the culprit.
Thanks

You are very welcome.  I am glad to hear that you have found the information useful and that it has resolved your issues.

In the future if you wish to continue using the Full Shut Down of Windows you can create a Desktop shortcut for your Dad.  Option #2 in the link I have pasted below will explain how to create a Desktop shortcut that will fully shut down Windows in one click.

http://www.cnet.com/how-to/how-to-quickly-shut-down-windows-10/

In regards to that article I would recommend increasing the value of T from 0 to 5.  By increasing that value will give Windows an extra 5 seconds to close any apps before shutting down.
