A730 blank screen on bootup

Hi: first post here

 

I have several A720/A730 PC's and love them

 

my most recent A730 has developed a problem and I need help:

 

On bootup, the screen stays black for several minutes: then finally I see the WIN welcome screen: otherwise no issues with PC

 

Please help me troubleshoot this issue: I read here a similar problem with an A720 and it was suggested to reinstall the display driver: would that fix it?

Hi Mark,

 

Welcome to Lenovo Community!

 

I’m sorry to hear that your A730 All-In-One is displaying black screen before booting windows and as suggested re-installing the display driver should resolve the issue. While installing the driver right click on the downloaded file and select “Run as administrator” option to get it installed without any error.

Thank you but how do I find the procedure to reinstall the driver please?

Hi Mark,

 

Below are the exact links with steps to download the drivers for the computer, to download the Display Driver please select “Display and Video Graphics” in the “Category” Tab and then select the exact OS (Operating System).

 

Then while installing the driver right click on the downloaded file and select “Run as administrator” option to get it installed without any error. 

 

Do post us back if the issue persists.

so the Lenovo parts replacer comes to my house:

 

he told me the problem was the A730 would not post: it needs to post to the Lenovo splashscreen  before Windows boots: so updating drivers will not address the issue: my A730 took 45 minutes or longer to post but it did work after that.

 

Tech begins to replace parts: motherboard, test RAM, and then the entire LCD screen assembly: now the A730 will not post or boot at all: way to go Lenovo

 

Now they want me to send it to a service center

 

I am a very unhappy Lenovo A730 owner

so I sent the A730 in to Lenovo service center for warranty repair: they have had it for two weeks

 

today I get a call from Lenovo  that the display looks lke it was dropped or disassembled: I explained that the Lenovo service tech they sent to my house completely disassembled the display to put a new one in: when I went to pack it up to return it, I noticed it had not been reassembled properly

 

This is becoming a nighmare: i urge all prospective buyers of this model to note my dilema

I understand your concern and sorry to hear the same, I suggest you to send it back to get it completely fixed and working as expected this might have occurred after the System got shipped from the Service Center.

Glass Broken

my A730 arrived back today: the front glass was shattered: there is glass all over my office carpet: after waiting a month I get this: the box looked fine: now I have to start all over again

 

what a mistake to purchase this PC: others considering this model should consider my absolutely horrible experience with Lenovo
