Advice needed. This SSD for my Lenovo A720

2013-04-16, 15:04 PM

Hello,

I would like to install a SSD in my All-In-One system, the Lenovo A720.

I'm aiming for this SSD, Mushkin Enhanced MKNSSDAT240GB mSATA 240GB

Will it be compatible and is it a good SSD?

The read and write speeds looks very promising.

Thanks,

hi Calx,

The Mushkin Enhanced MKNSSDAT240GB mSATA 240GB that you posted is electrically compatble for the Lenovo A720 as the unit comes with its own mSATA SSD slot. As for the performance, I can't comment on it since I haven't tried it myself but it has good reviews. As for stability, read/write wise, this all depends on the SSD's controller or firmware.

Checkout these reviews to help you decide:

Thanks.

I've done some reading and it seems that a lot of people favours the Crucial M4 mSata drive.

URL: Crucial M4 CT256M4SSD3 mSATA 256GB

I've also read the reviews regarding mSata SSDs and it seems that the M4 is outperforming most SSDs.

I would have thought that the Mushkin will be the first place in both sequential and random writing, but the Crucial M4 seems to be faster.

I'm leaning more towards the M4 after readings some reviews. Any more ideas?

I usually use the A720 for posters post production, autocad, parametric design with Rhino/Grasshopper and watch HD videos. Those are a few activities that I use the computer for.

I replaced the disk in my A520 with a Plextor PX-128M5M and it runs like the wind.

I wasn't able to copy the hidden rescue partition from the original 1TB drive but that isn't a big concern to me.
