B520 Distorted Screen Images

2013-03-05, 11:38 AM

In past couple of days I am noticing that all my buttons are distorted until I hover mouse over them, then they go back to normal. Can anyone suggest  a resolution? I am using Windows 8 Pro on an Idea 520 series. I recently upgraded driver software via Lenovo site. :cathappy:

hi hudders,

Do you mean the icons on your desktop are getting blurry / distorted until you hover the mouse on them?

According to this article, "Distortions or graphical problems occur when the GPU starts pumping frames more quickly than the monitor can process or receive them" It may also happen if you modify system files or use tweaking tools.

What you can is to:

1. Rebuild the Icon Cache (for Windows 7/8)

2. Uninstall your current display driver (may require a reboot) then re-install:

a. the display driver from the lenovo website

b, or from the Intel website (if you have an Intel HD Graphics)

c. or from the Nvidia website (if you have a discrete Nvidia graphics).

3. If you use a tweaking tool like Classic Shell, Start 8,or if you use a customized windows theme, or similar, try to uninstall them and reboot the PC

Let me know your findings,

Cheers
