Buzzing Sound

I have a Lenovo ideacentre 700-27ISH AIO.  The computer has been working fine until recently when it developed a "buzzing" sound.  I've run a hardware scan on the storage devices and they passed all tests. About the only thing left that I can think of that might cause this sound would be the fan, but there are no tests for that component that I am aware of.

My unit is still under warranty. Should I file a service request? Has anyone encountered this buzzing problem and if so, what was the solution?

Re: Buzzing Sound

 Hi fairmarketvalue ,

Greetings.

Would that be a constant buzzing noise or intermittent?

Would it also be heard in BIOS ?

To access the BIOS restart and tap on F1  ,

There also would fan on the power supply unit aside from the systemboard to consider .

Is the sound coming from the back or more at the inside?

You can run a temperature test if the noise would also happen on a particular teperature using this .

Having those above check would help identify needed parts for repair .

You may call tech support for the recommended repair service.

Re: Buzzing Sound

Hey Spidey101,

The buzzing noise is intermittent.  It appears to be coming from the back of the machine, near the top. Would this be a fan issue? BTW, I thought there is only one fan on my machine, but I could be wrong.

Re: Buzzing Sound

I forgot to mention in my reply that the buzzing sound, when it occurs, can also be heard when the machine is in BIOS mode. Does this make any difference?

Re: Buzzing Sound

Hi fairmarketvalue ,

If the noise is also happening on the BIOS then it is definite that on the machine level , there is an issue that you need to call in for repair.  Early intervention would prevent other components integrity failures .

Re: Buzzing Sound

I just ran some video diagnostics tests on my machine.  The Intel HD Graphics 530 part came through with flying colors.  However, there was a warning associated with the stress test for the Nvidia GeForce GTX 950A card. The warning states that thermal protection was triggered and that action needed to be taken to ensure that the case ventilation openings were not obstructed.  The specific information follows:

GeForce GTX 950A Result Code:WVC00R000-UL7XYK

Warning (0.73s)

I visually checked all of the openings on the case, and none seemed to be obstructed in any way.  Could a defective fan on the Nvidia video card have caused this warning and the intermittent buzzing sound I've reported?  BTW, I have followed Spidey101's advice and reported the buzzing sound to Lenovo support.  A technician should be on-site in the near future but I want to give Lenovo support a heads up if in fact the video card is suspect.

Re: Buzzing Sound

Hi fairmarketvalue ,

Great job on the diagnostics.

With that most ikely heatsink and fan parts would be a primary part and to include systemboard as needed.

Your onsite tech can physically check on it and would be able to recommend additional parts if needs to be re serviced.

Update us how things would push thru with the repair.

Regards
