C540 10110 Windows 7 to Windows 10 CPU not supported? problem

My 10110 c540 is still very useful IMHO. It currently runs Windows 7, and i have an upgrade to windows 10 that will not work as according to microsoft: The CPU is not supported (NX).  CPU i3-3420.

I read that this means some security ( ) associated with the CPU is not running or existing? I have so far tried via CMD :

bcdedit.exe /set {current} nx AlwaysOn

It says it turns on, but when i look in the BIOS i cannot see any reference to security, memory protection or execution prevention to see if ti exists at all.

I believe these machines were originally configured with Windows 8, so presumably have this NX security capability, unless windows 8 does not need this? Another plan is to purchase a Win 8 CD and key CD so i can re-install and go from there, and all being well then get my upgrade to Win 10 to work. The machine currently runs Windows 7 following a new hard drive fitted a few years back.

Any help would be much appreciated.
