Is it possible to upgrade Ideacentre with SSD?

I have an Ideacenter 300-20ISH which I purchased in the Philippines, model 90DA00H3PH

I'm not sure how to describe the drive(s) but it has a C: (100gb) and D: (900gb) drive.

However it has become very slow.

Is it possible to remove or upgrade the drive to something like an SSD to make it faster? add more RAM?

I want to put the operating system on the SSD.

If this is possible, how do I reinstall Windows 10 if I don't have the CD?

Any recommendations or suggestions would be greatly appreciated, thank you very much!

I've never done this before so I'm not sure if I need to take this to a shop or not. The videos online of people doing this looked quite easy.

Processor : Intel Core i7-6700 3.40GHz Processor (8M Cache, up to 4.00GHz)
Operating System : Windows 10 Home
Graphics : 2GB NVIDIA GeForce GT720 DDR3
Memory : 8GB DDR3 1600
Storage : 1TB HDD

Re: Is it possible to upgrade Ideacentre with SSD?

Hi @FourthBwithU

Welcome to Community Forums!

According to the specification of  Ideacenter 300-20ISH and its motherboard as shown on the Photo below, You can upgrade your memory upto 16GB Max and since you already have 8 GB on your computer,You can add another 8GB on the 2nd Slot.

Your computer is tested to work with DDR4-2400 UDIMM.

You can use either the 8GB DDR4 2400UDIMM MEMORY with part number 01AG805 or the UDIMM,8G,DDR4,2133 MEMORY with part number 03T7467

For the storage as as you can see on the image of the Motherboard below there are 3 SATA connectors ( box colored in yellow ). If i'm not mistaken only two of those are used by your HDD and DVD ROM thus there is an extra SATA connector where you can connect an additional SSD SATA  3.5" w/o removing your HDD.

NOTE: If you will be replacing the HDD with SSD you'll need a copy of your windows installer.

Hope this help answer your query.

Re: Is it possible to upgrade Ideacentre with SSD?

Hi @Jhay02_Lenovo,

Thank you very much for your prompt  and detailed response. Very helpful. Would you please help clarify:

1) What is the method or How do I obtain a copy of the windows installer? I bought the computer in Pasay City at MOA and the Windows and Lenovo software was already pre-installed. I am not sure how to back this up or copy it. I would like to run Windows on the SSD so that it is faster.

2) Can you recommend technicians or computer specialists near Pasay City, Manila who can perform this upgrade for me? I'm concerned that I might break something if I attempt this myself.

Thank you again for the very helpful answer.
