Lenovo C340 ... BT wifi issue

I have recently bought a Lenovo C340, and have encountered a slight problem with wifi.

My ISP is BT and I have a dual band BT Homehub 4 which uses 2.4ghz and 5ghz frequencies.  The preferred frequency for my set up should be 5ghz, but the Lenovo only detects and connects to the 2.4ghz frequency.  My tablet can connect to both frequencies and so it seems to be an issue with the Lenovo rather than with the Homehub.

The only advice given by BT is to give each frequency a different SSID, which I have done, but the Lenovo still doesn't detect the 5ghz signal.

Would anyone know if there is simple way of overcoming this issue, or should I just content myself with the 2.4ghz connection.

Any help appreciated.

Re: Lenovo C340 ... BT wifi issue

hi DCscotland,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

I did a check of all the possible WIFI card your system may come with,

All Three Wifi card are signle band and can work up to 2.4 GHZ only. So i believe 5ghz won't work with the system.

Re: Lenovo C340 ... BT wifi issue

Thank you Solid Cruver for taking the time to check it out and respond.   I see that it is possible to buy a dual band dongle from BT which may help in cases like this, but I'm not sure if it would be worth the expense.  I think I will just make do with my 2.4ghz connection.

Thanks again.
