Re:New A540 - Doesn't wake up from sleep

2020-05-16, 16:26 PM

Wow, wish I'd read these before I purchase mine a couple of months ago.  Exact same issue.  Won't wake about 3 or 4 days a week without a hard reboot.  This is a huge issue.  I've already installed all of my software on the thing so guess I'm stuck for now.  I had an issue with an office Lenovo several years ago and swore I'd never buy another one.  Well, this seals the deal.  My absolute last Lenovo purchase.  Can't even get customer service to contact me back after 10 days of submitting a service request and that was after paying for a year of premium care.  Great job, Lenovo!

I don't believe it. Spent the day configuring software, went to bed, only to wake and discover the Lenova in a coma, and still without cure.

Maybe it's time we start a class action against Lenovo since there are obviously hundreds of us having the same problem with little or no chance of resolution from them.  They might take some action to make it right then either through replacement or a patch.  Right now I don't think they're even looking at the problem, just letting us deal with it.

Mine has the opposite behaviour . I cannot put on sleep the system properly. The fan is working intermittently during the process.

Firmware bios O48KT27A not listed in the official repository.

Same issue on a less than day old A540 27" inch as well. Upgraded to this from a Yoga laptop and absolutely loved this thing until this issue. Same deal as everyone else. Machine went to sleep, came upstairs to use it and nothing. No keyboard, mouse movement or even pressing and holding the power button could bring it back to life. Had to totally yank the power cord, which is like the worst possible option for a computer. It's strange that I didn't have this problem initially when I unboxed it.

Tried the same options as others:

  • Look for the power savings options in the BIOS. Already disabled.
  • Look for Windows updates.
  • Look for Lenovo updates.

Really disappointing given this is a desktop all-in-one that likely should stay powered on and sleeping when not in use. I'm assuming now that the only way to avoid this issue is to turn of Sleep entirely for the time being until this is resolved. This really seems like a major issue that needs to be resolved.

Going into universal serial bus controllers via the device manager settings in the control panel has worked for my machine. Right click on each usb line and click on properties. click on the power management tab and uncheck Allow this computer to turn of this device to save power. Worked a treat.

Going to try this as mine started doing it this week. I do have a Dell dock on it and USB's are all full. So I was wondering if one was causing the problem.. will report back.
