YOGA A940 Camera doesn't work

First I want to apologize for my bad English Smiley Tongue

I just bought a YOGA A940, at the beginning everything worked perfectly, then I had to change account, so i created a new one, eliminated the previous one and reassigning the same Windows profile to the new one... but the camera stopped working. The curious thing is that the recognition of windows hello works properly, but then any other apps aren't able to show me anything except a gray screen with a white slashed camera.

Screenshot (2).png

I've tried some methods:

  • Checked the access permissions of the app
  • Temporary disabled the antivirus (mcafee preinstalled)
  • Tried with F8 Key like I have read in Internet (but this isn't the case of A940 keyboard)
  • Tried to disable/enable driver, update it, but nothing changed
  • The only method that seems do something is to go in regedit > HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE > Microsoft > Windows Media Foundation >  Platform, here create a DWORD (32-bit) value named EnableFrameServerMode, I don't know what all this means but after the restart the camera worked properly but windows hello stopped working saying that the camera was already opened somewhere Smiley Frustrated so i came back deleting this file.

I want to point out that there seem to be two drivers for the camera: "Integrated IR Camera" and "Integrated RGB Camera" but I don't know if they're part of the same driver.

I'd like to manually download the right drivers but I'm not sure how to find them, I only found this Integrated IR Camera driver for Window 10 (64-bit) - ideacentre Yoga A940-27ICB in pcSupport.Lenovo, but nothing about the RGB camera...

Please help me! Someone has suggestions on how to solve it? Is frustrating that such an expansive PC immediately started to give me problems Smiley Sad

Re: YOGA A940 Camera doesn't work

Hi @Mik92

Welcome to Community Forums!

The Photo on your Post shows your camera app is disabled.

Try to follow these steps and check the functionality of the camera every after step.

Step 1. Perform a power drain

  • Unplug the power cable from the wall outlet.
  • Hold down the power button for at least 15 seconds.
  • Reconnect the power cable and try turning it back on

Step 2. Try the camera on this page to isolate if the camera app itself is having a problem.

Step 3. F8 usually works for Laptops try FN+F8 on your keyboard.

Step 4. Check the Camera cover slider located on top of your display as shown on the photo below.

Let us know how it goes

Regards

Re: YOGA A940 Camera doesn't work

Hello @Jhay02_Lenovohanks for the reply.

Step 1. Just tried, nothing changed

Step 2. Just tried, it doesn't works like evry other app with cam

Step 3. As I sayed I already tried F8 key, but in my keyboard there aren't camera functions

Step 4. Of course the camera is open Smiley LOL

Some other hints?

EDIT

If it may be useful I noticed that in "Lenovo Vantage" is missing the camera switch, I remember that at the first open there was a green camera icon (identical to the mic icon).

Re: YOGA A940 Camera doesn't work

SOLVED

This morning I called the Lenovo support and found that the drivers provided on the Lenovo support page are incorrect, I hope they update it.

In case someone finds my same problem, I leave here the link to the correct drivers Smiley Wink

And we're back...

Move delayed but still coming
