4-day old Ideapad K1 10.1 frozen on 'locked' page!

2011-12-28, 12:15 PM

Hello! I'm a brand new owner of an Ideapad k110.1! I got it for christmas from my parents. I've been using it since I got it right up to the point where I'm about to use it today! But then I couldn't!

It was fine the night before! Nothing was wrong and I didn't update anything or download or anything else whatsoever besides browsing my usual spots in the internet.

Now I started it up, it got past theloading screen until the front page where you unlock it! Nope no more! The screen got unresponsive. I plugged the charger and it looks like it can charge. The time still works too. When the press the power button, the shut down button appears but I can't push anything!

Is there something I can do or must I go to the store where my parents got this thing? I've already personalized it. Put my apps and wallpaper and music. But that can't be, considering it worked pretty well regardless of these things. Not until today! What happened!?

Its best to update it as soon as u got it. Contains alot of critical updates and bug fixes. Can u not get past the lock screen? Didnt set any gesture unlock?

Have you tried a hard reset? (hold button till it shuts off) If you get it to unlock I would update it as Burger suggested.

Yes, I do know how to unlock. I just said the keypad didn't respond. Well, after I posted this. I tried it again (yeah, I know how to hard reset) and it worked again. I'm taking it back to the peeps who sold it to my parents. If they don't want to replace it, I guess I'll update it. Is this a normal bug? I just want to know. Is it something I just need to deal with with tablets or is this one of those defective products you can skip if you're lucky?

Well you loose nothing by updating it before deciding to take it back. I think the best thing to do is update it and see. We have 3 updates to do. One at atime rerunning system update. With the amount of updates, my guess is, theres a fix in there somewhere

I had the same problem Lenova told me they would replace it. However they are not producing any new ones and have no idea when they will ship. This sounds like a solid hardware problem. I think I will return it to Lenova and either get an upgrade to the Think Pad 32GB or  get the Toshiba Thrive. I have been reading a lot of commits about the screen freeze and am getting very edgy on the touch screen quality with the K1. If I don't here anything from Lenova by Friday 12/30 I plan on calling to get something that satisfies me that this is NOT a production yeid problem.

Well, I updated it up to the latest. Everything was fine. Thought it was unlikely to happen again. But...well, it froze again. I don't really understand. I close all applications before turning it off too.

well a quick work around to it is to press the power button like your turning it off. But dont turn it off instead press cancel.how often does it happen? Where in the philippines did you get k1 accesories if you have any?
