A1 screen completely unresponsive

2012-01-21, 14:11 PM

I charged my A1 last night and it is now completely unresponsive.  I have the android touch lock on it and it will not respond.  I have powered it down holding the power switch down for 10 seconds and powered it back up in both normal mode and in screen calibration mode to try and fix.

No joy.

And Lenovo UK have no support on a weekend.

Soooooo unhappy.

So, had to send it back to Amazon UK.  Replacement arrived in no time at all and it works beautifully.

Trying to find a solution I found the following suggestions:

Turn airplane mode on to save battery

Turn wifi on manually from the settings utilities

Turn automatic brightness OFF

Done this with the new A1 and it has been a dream.

Airplane mode to turn off the phone processes has absolutely no effect -- all it does is put an annoying airplane in the status area.  Without phone hardware, the cell standby service is, in effect, a stand in for "tablet idle".  This was examined to death with the Nook when it was first rooted.

The power control widget can make manual control of  wireless and screen brightness easier.  Beautiful Widgets also has nice toggle widgets for that.

So searcing for mobile signal doesn't use up any juice?  I'll tey it over the next week and see what happens.

Seems to be a pattern here. My A1 is completely unresponsive. It's still working, because Ican gear emails coming in, but cannot get anywhere! Back to Amazon! Given the fact that it isn't an isolated case, time for money back. Think it's Apple time!
