A2107 Micro Sd Damaged and will not mount

2012-12-22, 17:47 PM

Hi

I have just bought a Ideatab A2107 and as part of the bundle I bought a scandisk micro SDxc 64gb card.  However when I try to mount it, it just comes up saying unable to mount as the card is damaged.

iv tried it in my laptop and it seems ok there, and I have tried a 4gb sdhc card in it and that mounts fine, so does anyone know if there is an issue with SDXC or what the maximum size it can handle?

Any help would be appreciated.

I know that on the A2109A, 64GB cards will work if you reformat them to FAT32 (64GB sd cards are usually pre-formatted as exFAT).  I wouldn't be surprised if this also worked for the A2107, give it a try.

I'm nearly with you on this as I was thinking of buying the same MicroSDXC 64gb card. I've read elsewhere that if your device won't handle SDXC then not to reformat the card if it asks, because it reverts back to 32GB.

Last week I phoned the Lenovo helpline but they couldn't confirm the maximum card size that the A2107a-h would work with. After a check with his line-manager, I was told just 32GB. But I wasn't reasurred by their answer as it sounded vague - almost a guess. It was something they needed to run tests on. Blah-blah.

SanDisk told me they couldn't comment either, because they do not have any spec details from Lenovo for the a2107a-h giving its max capacity size.

It would be a good idea if Lenovo would issue an approved list of manufacturers' cards so that punters don't waste time and money doing their dirty work for them.

In all, I thought it was a poor show by Lenovo. I'm going to rename them Dunotho  :smileyfrustrated:

The same problem occured to me with a 1GB - 2GB and 4GB Micro SD card...

I did exactly what mcl630 said and it's now working...

None of the cards was working prior to format in Fat32.

Thanks!!!

I would also appreciate the info Sodi is requesting.

Lenovo support told me the A2107 would only accept up to 32Gb microSDHC and said the Android o/s would automatically mount and format the card. Lenovo said 64Gb would not work and the card woud not have to be formatted manually.

Also, does the Class of the card matter? May I use the fastest sdhc available (class 10)?
