[HowTo] A2109 Fastboot

2012-11-29, 15:41 PM

This is how I got fastboot driver installed in Windows 7 Home Premium.

1) You must have adb installed and working. There are threads here that will get you going.

2) First you need LeTools as linked to in This Thread Install that file and make sure you know where it is.

3) Then you have to Power On you device and plug in your A2109 via usb to your pc.

4) Now from cmd prompt issue the command adb reboot bootloader this will put your device into fastboot mode and windows will not be able to find a driver for it.

5) Open Device Manager and follow the steps below.

Now follow the screen shots.

Here is the device listed in windows

Open Device Manager and Find Fastboot

Right Click on Fastboot and select Update Driver

Right Click Fastboot

Select the next dialogs as shown

fastboot3.jpeg

Then this one and click next

fastboot4.jpeg

Brings you to the Next Screen where you want to have "Select All Devices" and then next

fastboot5.jpeg

Now click Have Disk

fastboot6.jpeg

Click Browse

fastboot7.jpeg

Find the files from LeTools you installed and Select LeDrivers and click Open

fastboot9.jpeg

Windows should now have this next box filled in as below Click open

fastboot10.jpeg

Windows brings you back to this window Click OK

fastboot11.jpeg

We finally get to this window where we can select Lenovo Fastboot Device and click Next

fastboot12.jpeg

You will get this error click Yes

Holy crap we are finally done 100 mouse clicks later

Nice tutorial.  It's definately a little bit different than what I see on Windows 7 Professional.

I did it slightly different on Win 7 Pro 64 bit.  Anika's instructions should work for it though.  If not, see my instructions for unlocking the bootloader.  I wrote those based off what I did.

I have following problem with installing Fastboot - after selecting leusbadb.inf from LeDrivers directory I see the prompt "there is no information about devices in selected localization" (my translation from polish:). I am on WinXP.

Has anybody a solution for this?

I'm having the same problem as johan111. I'm using Win XP and fastboot shows up in Task Manager. When I go through the whole process of pointing to LeDrivers, I get an error..There is no information about your device.
I'm also experiencing a problem with getting the A2109 into fastboot. If I manually try to enter fastboot or if I use adb reboot bootloader from cmd prompt, the device boots to a screen with a USB symbol but in the top left corner it displays,

Continue
Reboot bootloader
Reboot
Power off

I never see "Starting USB download protocol"

Any help would be much appreciated.

Ok, These istructions are Not for windows xp. The download link is for Windows 64bit drivers.....I am not sure you are using a 64 bit windows xp, make sure you have the right drivers and instructions for windows xp.

These instructions are for windows 7 home premium and the download link gives you windows 64 bit drivers, I am not sure if they even work for windows xp. You may need to find your own drivers and way to install.

I think in this case you would need to select the option you want with the "volume" button and then use the "power" button to select it.

So in this case I would try to have selected >> continue and then hit the power button to move on to fastboot.

Thanks for the advice!
I did try each one...
Continue - cold boots linux
Reboot bootloader -reboots boatloader but right back to the same weird USB screen
Reboot - reboots device normally
Power off - well powers off

The vol down button allows selection of options. Vol up selects option and continues operation. Power button doesn't function as a "Enter" button. The key functions are different than in Android Recovery.
