I hate android keyboard

2011-12-06, 20:36 PM

I've been using google voice a lot which means I've been txting up a storm since I got this tablet (about a month now since release)

My rant is that I really despise the auto complete. I've tried gokeyboard too and it seems just as bad. I know part of the problem is it can't keep up with how fast I type, but even when I'm slow it just sucks major ass.

Not trying to bash (because I still intend to use this device) but compared to my windows phone the auto complete doesn't compare. Is there an alternative? For instance on my Winphone, I rarely if EVER send typos in my emails or text. And with this tablet it's very frequent. Here's a simple example

I tried spelling geeze about 5 times and it kept suggesting/auto completing "herself" instead of "geeze" and I've disabled the autocomplete after space feature etc.

How do the keyboards work on android. Are they responsible for the auto complete or are they only good for different layouts?

How much of my hate stems from

1) android sucking at auto complete vs

2) lenovo touch screen is lower quality

And is there a solution so I don't get so frustrated?

Thanks.

SwiftKey X Keyboard is on promo right now on the Android Market for $0.10!! That's a deal and a half! I use this keyboard as my main one because of it's prediction capabilities. It'll complete full sentences after you've used it for a small amount of time. I feel like the Android keyboard is garbage compared to this app. Get it while it's hot!

I really like swype. I just need to remember to look at the suggested list before going to the next word. Otherwise I might end up with something I then need to change.

Verdict is in, SwiftKey is amazing. I can actually type a conversation now without coming off like a complete retard. So SwiftKey is like the saving grace for me when it comes to android.

The prediction on SwiftKey is really accurate. I think google needs to go back to school when it comes to auto correction because if there wasn't an app like swiftkey I'd seriously consider offing my tablet.

Is anyone aware of a 3rd party keyboard that supports double-tap to place a friggin' (period) .    At the end of a typed sentence?  Not an Apple fanboy but after using an iPhone for 2.5 years I'm coming down hard on Andriod!

Swipe, what...  how come that email message doesn't say DELETE.  COME ON ICEEE CREAMMM SANDWHICHHH!

Thanks,
Ricochet

One of the first thing I got for my tab was Swype. looks and is able to keep up with the fastest typing. Only thing I needed to do was update some of my own words I like to use. And I keep hitting . instead of space of space. Another cool thing is that you can make the keyboard smaller for faster typing

In regards to Andoid keyboards, I recently installed Swype (as it was pre-installed on my Dell Streak 7) and I am liking it.

Is there any reason to keep the Lenovo LME keyboard system installed on the device?  I would like to uninstall it as I didn't like it at all (though it was a little better than the basic Honeycomb keyboard).

Thanks, and I am also going to check out the other keyboard mentioned in this thread.
