Re: Ice Cream Sandwich for Ideapad K1

Yeah, this thing is extremely fast and smooth. :)

I've installed the Google Play APK but can't launch it because I've got no Google Account setup and there is no option to set a Google account up. Any help with that?

Now that you have met this challenge...:smileyhappy: can you provide some hopeful new for those of us with the A1 tablet who have also been waiting for ICS?  Since there have been various zips in the ICS_OTA download folder, I was hopeful that today's new might include the A1 also...

How did you install the store?
Or better yet, how did you add a Google Account?

Don,

I think others have made suggestions in the last 3 or 4 pages about how you can back up your data...

You might need root to preserve your current ROM.   We are working on having an image of the most recent Honeycomb release that you could download, but that would just get you back to the Lenovo image and would not restore your info.

Mark

That would be greate, because without Google and without a filebrowser on the Pad you can´t even install any app.

Altough I cannot connect the K1 to adb??? I need this for developement? Do you have any idea?

Mark,

Could you at least hint in what direction to look to get Google Play functionality?

I've managed to get a Google Play APK, but after installing it just exits when I try to open it (probably because it hasn't got the underlying Google framework parts).

No, you need to copy that apk to apps folder on system, but you can not do it without root. Play will work eventually. Just wait for custom ROMS.

Getting all of the google apps is done the same way rooted users do it, I'd imagine. Google "GApps" to find the package. The problem is finding a file browser apk to install off the internet that isn't a virus, so you can install all of the GApps apks.
