A plain version of ICS, that would make the K1 a Nexus tablet ;)

Mark, thanks for keeping the community in the loop!

Just spoke to someone named Solomon on Live Chat and he contradicted Mark's reply and said he doesn't know why he said that.

So, Which is it....Will it be available or not? I have plenty of other options out here...I seriously thought Lenovo could play with the big dogs, but I guess I was wrong.

K1 is very good piece of hardware and I am sure that Windows 8 edition for Tablets will perfectly fit on it.

Lenovo laptops is good because of the Microsoft customer care and with the Android OS people just found out how far of the perfection Linux OS is.

No need from ICS 4, very soon Windows will took control over all tablets, but Lenovo "high-fly" software Team - You may keep Your customization in case that someone will be interesting after Microsoft officially take over Your tablet.

One more thing, about the Efficiency and resource Utilization - just take a look at NOKIA's Windows phones - how faster they are and how precision is Touch recognition and Response time almost as an iPhone even better - all this with just Single Core processor and 512 MB of RAM, no special Video Chip at all - Now Imagine what will be the Performance of K1 with the new Windows running on it.

Android is slow and so buggy that Lenovo software Team is afraid to publish 4.0.x in advance before significant lab testing, because of the already too much Customer complains.

Not the last - Google Development - put on First position "Samsung" who does not have even single Original Idea copying everything from Apple and "Lenovo" somewhere on Last position after Yuppies like "Asus" - this is more than disgusting.

bdawg111,

Yes, I expect support may continue to say that ICS will not be made available for K1 for a while longer..

We will formalize internal communication once we have a committed date.   (We are targeting June - don't know what day in June yet).

There are also some other details to be worked out about how the image will be made available for download, the level of support that would be provided as it is not customized, etc, etc.  All that will need to be communicated to our support and sales support teams.

I expect additional information to follow in the next week or two.  If you are shopping different sources for an answer on this subject, I would expect the results will vary for a while longer.  Appreciate your patience as details are finalized.

Thanks!

Mark

@ Pom-Bear

LOL.

Deal is, we're all running Android! And guess what? We bought this tablet because it was an Android tablet! Guess what we expected on it? Android!

And guess what else? This is a community support forum! And guess what else? You aren't contributing anything!

Oh yeah, and guess what else? Courier New does not make you an 3l33t h4x0r!

Also, Android is based on the Linux kernel. That does not make it Linux.

Sorry if i'm responding to a troll post, but the temptation...just too much.

Does plain ics without lenovo customisation mean that we will lose the Lenovo launcher? (big widget on home screen)

The loss of the Lenovo widget would not be a big deal as you can easily get other widgets that work much better (and is more customizable).

I would think a plain vanilla ICS may actually be MORE stable than a skinned custom version - especially the way Lenovo designers have had so many problems with the funcionality of their skin - we'll see.  Additionally, a plain ICS might aslo entail easier root access.
