If you wanted ios,you should have bought an ipad. Yes, android is maybe not as buttery smooth as ios, but look at what more you can do!

Pharmfriend its not necessarily android but poor optimization by Lenovo. I have a single core phone, the thunderbolt, running an optimized ROM and it is smooth as butter typically. Also hardware does have an impact on performance but if its not optimized by the OEM to run efficiently then it will be slow and buggy. Google can't get android to work and be optimized with every device. Its open source meaning that any company can license it and develop devices that don't run stock android as they already do so Google's Android code is being modified.

Is it possible that ICS will help manage "memory hog" programs?

Look at the location at the top of this post. It is MEEP.... Middle East... I to have seen this post, it just does not necessarily concern our region. that being said, We have heard on this thread that lenovo is going to release a Vanilla ICS build for this tablet. I personally think it will be a HUGE improvement. I am currently running a rooted HC rom with a few minor tweeks and a LOT of bloat ware missing and it makes all the differance in the world. Hardware definitely is important but optimization of the OS is key.

Unfortunately, this press release is from Lenovo's website for the MEEP market. (Middle East, Egypt and Pakistan). On other localized sites, this release excludes the K1.

But see, this is what I have a problem with. You mean to tell me that Lenovo would release an ICS update for MEEP but not regions such as the US and Canada?

That just doesn't make sense, so either the bulletin is false or every region (or at least most) will get it...those are the only practical options.

On page 17 of this thread Mr. Mark Hopkins, a relatively high-level Lenovo employee, said ICS was tentatively planned for June 2012. That is the latest and most reliable information we have at the moment.

All,

I have a call with the tablet team tonight and hope to have some further details.   Last I heard, it was looking like mid-June.  With regard to questions on regions, etc, I don't know - I'll carry forward those concerns.

Appreciate your patience... hang in there!

Thanks

Mark
