This may have already been discussed but is there anyway to install the ThinkPad version of ICS on to the K1?

I have to agree with mattmcb345 - I think Lenovo has decided to just ignore this whole issue and hope we all just go away.   While there are more than 900 messages in this thread - they probably are generated by only a couple hundred users.  (And that is probably most of the people that actually care if ICS is released - most of the other owners are just consumers - many probably have no idea what ics even is)   I think that when Lenovo thought there would be an easy vanilla solution it was worth it, but when it turned out to be more work than they planned they just dropped the project.    They would have been alot better off to just say from the start that they weren't going to do anything, and release the source code to the user community.  They'll let us all moan about it in the forum, and they will loose a few sales, but six months from now no one will remember the issue and quite honestly - when it comes time to buy a new laptop, a year from now - many of us will forget this and buy a Lenovo laptop.

hah... Christopher I agree that's why I waited 2 months before posting but.... I wouldnt' be whining had it not been LENOVO that was feeding me the crap that is now coming out of my mouth. Mark the "Lenovo Social Media" man should have just kept his mouth shut. Companies shouldn't make empty promises. Probably the WORST thing you can do for your image. Remember this post?? I don't believe you'll ever see Apple post some garbage like this on their website. No they wait until the product is DONE until they announce it.  Yeah I'm so full of **bleep** and need my diaper changed, I'm going to make the CEO of Lenovo come change the thing!

They definitely brought this marketing mess on themselves - a text book case of what to do wrong - but luckily (for them) the community of K1 users isn't big enough to have any impact on their bottom line - if we all stopped buying Lenovo products, the impact would probably be not much more than a rounding error in their next yearly financial statement.

I like the hardware - I got it for a good price.   Even if it gets ICS, I'll probably retire it by the end of the year for something newer, faster and flashier, but I wanted that to be my decision.   While the tablet is marginally usable with HC - I wanted and, I think reasonably expected, that future version of the OS would be make available.   To have the company decide to make the product obsolete by withholding upgrades less than a year after it is released sucks, but that is just business.

I didn't even mention ICS in my message. My peeve is with the entire lack of support for this device, The crappy and useless Lenovo Store, the lack of books, video and music purchases. Yes, and ICS but more importantly TIMELY UPDATES. I won't even talk about the time it takes to repair one of these. After all this ICS was promised for June you know. If you say your going to do it then DO IT. Weren't you brought up that way? I do not understand how a technology company can operate this way. I can understand that a product can not be supported foreever. It would seem resaonable to get atleast three years after purchase, or two after removed from sale.

Hell, I have better things to do then bitch but when some ignorant **bleep** calles me a crybaby it pisses me off no end! My arguments are based on fact not emotion, period. I paid good money for this tablet, why shouldn't I expect good support both in content availabilty and systems support. Why do we acept less now, we never used to...
