Same issue. It looks like it stopped to show signs of any live after battery full discharge. I tried following:
A. press power button for 20 sec with and without USB charger plugged in, with Volume button Up and Down. No effect.
B. Removed back cover and disconnected battery, wait 10 sec, reconnected. Tried #A. No effect.
C. Disconnected battery, connected USB. Screen briefly flashes every 4-5 sec. Pressing buttons has no effect.

Continueing experimenting....

Measured battery voltages, battery connected, USB disconnected :

black to red: 4.2V

black to yellow, white: 1.8V

black to gree, blue: 0.0V

Measured voltages on battery plug (battery disconnected) with USB connected:

black to red: 3.3V

black to green: 0.0V

black to yellow: 1.8V

black to white: 1.8V

black to blue: 0.4V

After disconnecting battery, connecting to USB, and reconnecting battery, pressing Poer button for 3 sec causes Lenovo splash word appear on screen. And it can stay there forever until I press Power button. Screen gets black and does not start again.

Continueing experimenting....

After disconnecting battery, connecting to USB, and reconnecting battery, and connecting to USB, ater 2-3 sec picture with battery charged 100% appears for couple of seconds. Then disappears.

Short click on power button brings battery picture again.

Pressing on power button for 1-3 sec brings "Lenovo" splash screen that hangs forever.

If to turn it off, next "start" is possible after battery dis-re-connection

Continueing experimenting....

I've got a feeling that the issue is caused by battery level 0 or 100, kind of these values are out of limits or cause div by zero, or something...

I left the tablet to show "Lenovo" splash for like 30 min, to discharge battery a bit.

THen I shut it down. It did not restart again without resetting by battery disconnection. Disconnected the battery and reconnected it.

Then I've started in recovery mode with Power + Volume Up.  Selected "wipe data / factory reset", now it erases data...

Actually it hanged.

I've shut it down. again reset it by battery reconnection. Started up normal way. It continued erasing data...

Well. It shows it erasing data,  animation of Android with some polyhedral is rotating. But it does not finish.

Rebooted couple of times. Same story.

Booted with Power + Volume Down into Chinese menu (translation here http://forum.xda-developers.com/lenovo-a3000/general/lenovo-3000-factory-mode-chinese-list-t2655858 ).

Run automaic test, it shows no problems with eMMC...

I cannot to enter Rescue menu (Power + Volume Up) any more. It proceeds with "Erasing" automatically and hangs there. Fast click on Power holds anymation and shows "Formatting /data...". How long should it take? It works like 15-20 minutes already...

How to reset it?

Is it possible to boot from SSD? Where to find image(s)?

Bought it through amazon uk last July 2014.
Looks like that Lenovo hasn't tackle this issue properly.its an Hassel to start complaining etc...
I wouldn't reccomend Lenovo to anyone if they don't resolve this issue satisfactory.
Amazon suggested as the first port of call to let Lenovo to deal with this issue first.
So watch this space!!
