IdeaTab S6000 - How can I add or remove home screens?

2013-12-03, 6:39 AM

The S6000 comes with the usual 5 home screens, but there seems to be no way to add, remove or rearrange the screens. Standard versions of JellyBean have a simple way to do this - started by a pinch action on one of the home screens - but Lenovo's custom 'edit mode' seems to have disabled this. Does anybody know a way to do it on this device?

I'd suggest trying an alternate launcher from the Play Store, such as Nova Launcher.  Lenovo's custom launcher is pretty limited.

download the manual here

go to section 1.7, you can easily add or remove and reorganize the home screen using the edit functions.

Thanks, nebraskared, but somebody marked your reply as 'acceped as a solution' and it wasn't me.

I had already studied the manual you refer to, and section 1.7 does not describe how to add or remove a home screen. If you do know how to do it, I'd really appreciate a brief description of the procedure.

For the moment, my original question remains unanswered.

You can remove one of the "boxes", (games, social, media, business, tools) by holding your finger on the box until a red X appears. Tap the X to remove the screens you do not want.

To add screens, tap the 6 square logo in the top right. Go to WIDGETS and you can hold and drag screens to the home page.

Edit content by tapping on a home screen to enlarge it, then use the + sign to add apps, and the pencil sign to delete apps.

Hope this helps.

Sorry, nebraskared, but that doesn't help. I'm afraid you're confusing 'folder' widgets with home screens.

The main home screen is the view you land on when you touch the Home icon at the bottom of any screen. There are two more home screens each side of it, and you move between the five home screens by horizontal swiping.

To re-state my problem:  the IdeaTab comes with five home screens but there seems to be no way to add, remove or rearrange them. Standard versions of JellyBean have a simple procedure for this, started by a pinch action on one of the home screens, but Lenovo's custom 'edit mode' seems to have disabled this.

Does anybody know a way to add or remove home screens on this device?

Thanks, mcl630 - that does it.

I've installed Nova Launcher and it not only solves my original problem, it opens up new options that I hadn't realised were possible (such as renaming app icons). I havent used a third-party launcher before, but I'm suddenly a convert!
