Ok - 3G works very well, but the problem is with Google Play that has compatibility issues. Almost every app I try to download is said not to be compatibile with the device, eg Google Maps / Soundhound / TuneIn etc. What is the solution to this? I really would like to stay with ICS so if you have any idea - please tell me. Thanks

If you pick ROOTED and why not, you can modify the Build.Prop to spoof a Motorola Zoom making most compatibility issues go away. There are many posts and a script or two to make it happen. I believe someone also found that doing the mod to spoof the new Lenovo K1 replacement also works.

If I knew how to do it, I would mod KH's Official ICS to include a Build.Prop mod and to include all the original apps. This would then be a no brainer version for the masses. Load it up and you have what I would call a stock ICS like stock HC.

I have been a developer for more than 40 years, but have not worked on Android. I may give this a try to get my feet wet on Android.

thanks for your response. the problem is that I know moreless what it is about modyfying build.prop, but do not know exactly how to do it. I could not find any step-by-step instruction. I wonder why modified build.prop is not included by default, cause out of the box version of the rom is not to be used by average user, unfortunately... maybe that is not so easy to be done?

Re: Ideapad K1 - Which Rom do I choose?

Hi,

I am very new to this install and i would like to know if the build which is provided will work on the "ideapad K1 wifi only" tablet.

I am on 3.2.1 , most of the apps are crashing (tried reseting to factory also), so want to install JB or ICH to get rid of this problem.

I am referring to :

Lenovo official ICS

K1_WIFI3G_K1_A301_21_03_120607_ICS_Image.zip

But, if you suggest me for any other build also helps me.

Appriciate your help.

After lot of time, got my k1 up and running with JB .. THanks for all your posts..

you rock..

thanks

I have had amazing success with Krook1's CM10 v6 distribution.  I have only recently upgraded from Honeycomb and JB is amazing - like a new tablet.

I have tried all my aps and only DirecTV on device playback and trying to use the built in LED as a flashlight do not work.

Bluetooth, Google Play, Rhapsody, SiriusXM, Currents plus everything else seems to work MUCH better than Honeycomb.

Previous to Krook's CM10 v6 distribution, I tried the JB AOSP distribution which wouldn't run Rhapsody and SiriusXM and had somewhat flakey Bluetooth.

For you out there that are frustrated with your Honeycomb OS K1 this upgrade will rock your world.

I can only echo davebasta's experience. CM10/JB is a huge improvement over HC and a strong reinforcement of the good that came in ICS.

I have still the original HC on my K1.  Now I am ready to plunge.  Can I go straight to JB or do I need to install ICS first and then install JB?  Is there a place where all the instructions and step by steps are there for a novice?
