K1 - will not poweron after Jan update

2012-01-21, 19:17 PM

Have had my K1 about 30 days, with occasional use.  Have gone through multiple Android updates and app updtaes without issues.

However,  I did the 120109 update yesterday.  It installed just fine, and I worked with the later level for the next couple of hours without issues.    When I set it aside and it powered-down on its own, it seems the K1 has turned into a brick.  Absolutely no power-on sequence lights.

I noticed other comments about how the K1 might consume more power (stronger WiFi, left BT on) but have re-charged it today and still will not power-on.

 Is a diagnostic (multi-key) boot-up possible?

Thank you for any suggestions.

Build Number: K1_A301_14_14_120109_US

Kernel Version: 2.6.36.3

Android Version: 3.2.1

I held all three buttons (power, volume up and volume down) for a bit and then it showed some signs of life again (the 2 white lights by the side button on the face of the tablet came on).  Then I pressed power for a bit and the 2 lights went off.  then I pressed power and it booted up as normal.

Thnaks for the tip about power+volume buttons.   Tried it (multiple times) but that still does not initiate a boot for my K1.

Press the power button like 15 seconds or more it will light up the led lights for less than a second. After that try to-press again the 15 seconds or more he power led will light up normal and the k1 will turn on. Ihave to do this on a daily basis even more.

You mentioned your K1 powered down on it's own. That's unusual since my K1 would just go in the sleep/no screen mode even if you leave it for hours.

Check to see if this is the autoBrightness issue otherwise give Support a call.

I had same problem as you. But I found out if I turn off the orientation sensor, the little switch beside the volume button.

Then I can bring it back by press and holding the power and volume button. Good luck for you.:smileyvery-happy:
