Lenovo M10 FHD - VERY SLOW

I bought this tablet as a low-cost solution for a specific use, but am amazed at how slow it is. With Android 10 installed and all updates loaded, it acts like something from the early 2000's. On boot-up, the pin code screen takes several seconds to accept each digit, apps are slow to load and the whole experience is not good. Is there a way of speeding it up? I have limited the number of apps but that seems to make no difference.

Re:Lenovo M10 FHD - VERY SLOW

Thanks for posting in Lenovo Community @PeteTJH ,

I'm sorry to read that you're experiencing a performance related issue on your tablet.

If I may ask, when did you start to notice it? Also, do you use a MicroSD card for your device? If yes, it would be worth to try removing it, restart the tablet then observe its performance again. Next, I also recommend you to connect the tablet into a different Wi-Fi network to test.

Other than that, I advise you to check this article for additional troubleshooting steps.

Please let us know how it goes. Let's also narrow things a little more if you could post here its MTM number (ex. ZATN0003US or ZA1T000VUS) for us to check its specifications.

Thanks,
Adriel_Lenovo

Re:Lenovo M10 FHD - VERY SLOW

Hi Adriel,

The problem with slow response has been there since day 1. I'm not using a mocroSD card in my tablet, I triedclearing mthe cache partition as suggested in the article, and connecting to an alternative network, but neither made any difference, the tablet is still very sluggish. The MTM number is ZA5T0244GB.

Thanks

Re:Lenovo M10 FHD - VERY SLOW

Thanks for the tablet's details,

Since you've mentioned that the tablet already runs slow ever since you got it, I still suggest you to make sure that it's updated to its latest version. If it does or if there's no available update, I would advise you to perform a factory reset instead by following the steps below:

  • Ensure the device is turned off and not connected to any charger.
  • Press and hold the correct keys to start the device into recovery mode. This varies from device to device. Normally there are three key combinations to enter recovery mode for Lenovo android tablets:
    • Volume Up + Power
    • Volume Down + Power
    • Volume Up + Volume Down + Power
  • Navigate to Wipe data/factory reset or Reset factory.
  • Press Enter. Factory reset will start automatically. Wait until finished.

Please make sure to back up your files first to avoid data loss. Let us know how it goes this time.

Thanks,
Adriel_Lenovo

Re:Lenovo M10 FHD - VERY SLOW

Hi again Adriel,

I've factory reset my tablet, reinstalled all the necessary updates and apps, and it seems marginally quicker. However, twice since I reset it, it has spontaneously rebooted. Compared to my wife's Huawei MediaPad M5 Lite it is still noticeably slower, and I am now wishing that I had paid the extra for that particular tablet.

Re:Lenovo M10 FHD - VERY SLOW

Thanks for responding,

Did it reset immediately even if you're not using the tablet? If yes, please check if your device has the Lenovo Tablet Hardware Diagnostics (LTHD). If it does, I suggest you to use it since it is a built-in tool that allows you to test its hardware functionality to ensure that the tablet's works fine. These function tests includes speaker, ear speaker, microphone, vibration, rear & front camera and other integral parts of your machine. You may click this link to see how to use it.

Please upload here a picture of the result once you've completed it for us to check.

Thanks,
Adriel_Lenovo

Re:Lenovo M10 FHD - VERY SLOW

Well, I managed to get LTHD to run, by pressing the volume up button for 10 seconds, and everything got a green tick. This is beginning to get frustrating!

Re:Lenovo M10 FHD - VERY SLOW

Hello,

Thanks for getting back to us!

Since the diagnostics came with a passed result, I highly recommend you still to contact our Lenovo technical support. This is truly the scenario we don't want you to experience however, I'm sure that they can offer further recommendations especially if there is/are possible hardware concerns that weren't able to detect by the diagnostics. You may call them at +44 333-777-3991 from 9:00 - 18:00 Monday - Friday. Provide the tablet's serial number for them to check its warranty entitlement and explain more of it in detail.

Regards,
Adriel_Lenovo

Re:Lenovo M10 FHD - VERY SLOW

I contacted technical support as you sugested, explained that I had tried everything that you had suggested including factory reset, and was told that I should send the tablet for REPAIR! Considering it is only 2 months old, I would have expected an exchange for a new unit.

The technician I spoke with told me he could only authorise a repair, and that I should contact the retailer for a replacement or refund (It was bought from the LenovoUK website). Although I have lost confidence with this product, I have already paid for a tailor-made case and screen protectors, so a refund would leave me out of pocket. The only option would appear to be a replacement unit, can you authorise this?

Re:Lenovo M10 FHD - VERY SLOW

Thanks for responding,

We have a dedicated support that would definitely answer your question about that, which is our Lenovo technical support. As much as we'd like to help you on getting a replacement, it is entirely up to them to decide on what the next best action would be. I suggest you to try to contact them again as it will up to them to provide such details.

Thanks,
Adriel_Lenovo
