Lenovo P11 Dark mode auto switch

hi there. I used a M10 FHD 2nd for few days before sending back to amazon and it had two frustrating issue: dark mode not automatically switching with any of the option available (sunset/sunrise or time based) and screen remaining on from time to time.

Now I own a P11 and the screen always goes off, thanks god. But the dark mode doesn't kick in.. I don't want to install a third party app just to do something so basic..

Does it works for you?

Re:Lenovo P11 Dark mode auto switch

Thank you @Adriel_lenovo  for your reply :)

I had the problem since the first time I tried to use the auto switch mode.

I did the "Wipe cache partition" and in fact it seems to work so far! Thank you very much! ^^

I apologize, I should have tried before asking the question again. I thought it didn't work for the previous user who had the same issue.

Thank you for your support, help and patience.

With gratitude,

Andrea

Lenovo P11 Dark mode auto switch

Re:Lenovo P11 Dark mode auto switch

Welcome to Lenovo Community @brainvision ,

I'm sorry to know that Dark mode/theme doesn't work automatically on your Tab P11.

If I may ask, when did you start to notice it? And did you make any changes on the tablet before it occur? The first step I would advise you is to restart the device then test if it will automatically activate the Dark mode again. Next, please ensure that the tablet's also updated to its latest version.

Aside from the steps above, do you also use any third party themes or apps that customizes the appearance of your tablet? If yes, please try to remove/disable it then see how it goes. Other than that, I also recommend you to wipe the tablet's cache partition by following the steps below:

  1. Power off the tablet then press the Power, Volume Up, and Volume Down buttons together to enter Recovery mode.
  2. Release the Power button once the Lenovo logo appears on the screen, while keeping the Volume Up and Volume Down buttons pressed.
  3. Once in Recovery Mode, use the Volume Up and Down buttons to move up and down and select Wipe cache partition.
  4. Once in Recovery Mode, use the Volume Up and Down buttons to move up and down and select Reboot system now.

Please note that all personal files and settings are not affected by this option. You may also check this post for reference.

Let us know if it will work. We'll wait for your response.

Thanks,
Adriel_Lenovo

Re:Lenovo P11 Dark mode auto switch

as for the M10 FHD, it worked once and never worked again.. if I manually enable Dark Mode it doesn't go back to Light mode when needed.

I can't see any option to clear cache from recovery. only factory reset and I'm not going to do that for a problem that will likely appear again

no ota available

I already found the other thread but I honestly don't understand what he did except for the reset, which is not an option

all I did was using the tablet like we're supposed to do

Re:Lenovo P11 Dark mode auto switch

Hello, I have the same problem with my tablet, Lenovo Tab M10 FHD Plus: dark mode not automatically switching with any of the option available (sunset/sunrise or time based). It only works with the manual switch on/off.

Any help?

Thank you!

Thanks for posting at Lenovo Community!

When did it start to happen? Also, were there any changes made on the tablet before it occurred? I would recommend that you perform the same steps I have provided here to see if it'll fix the issue. By the way, make sure that the tablet is already updated to its latest version.

Thanks,

Re:Lenovo P11 Dark mode auto switch

Hello, thank you very much for all your help.

I see my post has been accepted as the correct solution, but actually it doesn't really work for me. It did work for the first day, but starting from the second day I still have the same problem.

If I do the "Wipe cache partition" it works for only one day. I'm happy to provide more information if they can be useful to solve this bug. I hope it will be solved at some point 🤞.

Thank you 🙂

Hi again,

Thanks for getting back to us,

And I'm sorry to know that the issue still persists. Were you able to check the tablet for any firmware updates? If there's none, I advise you to reset it to factory settings instead inside the Recovery Console menu by following the steps in this video. Just make sure to back-up your files first to avoid data loss. Once done, proceed with the initial setup, then test it again.

Please tell us how it goes this time.
