Re: Lenovo Tab 4 8 Plus Oreo update

2019-07-14, 20:45 PM

Some good news on this issue from the XDA forums...the programmer who just finished the Lineage 14.1 release for 8704v has stated that he is going to update to Lineage 16.0 (Android 9).  He will use the latest Lenovo git-hub drivers for our devices.  This will take some time but it will happen as the programmer has a sterling track record.

Yes, I have flashed it already with the latest magisk and beangapps. It runs extremely well. But it is Nougat. So I am patiently waiting for his Pie. ?

I don't see why Lenovo can't snatch this up, test it, tweak it, rebrand it, and release it.  It seems like a matter of willingness to do it rather than ability to accomplish the goal.

Why doesn't any other tablet/ phone manufacturer EVER do it....... because they want their own OS. Cheaper. The world runs on $$$$$$$= profit. That's the deciding factor.

I’m not installing a new OS on my tablet that didn’t come from the manufacturer while it’s still under warranty.  I wish Lenovo could get their act together and push the Oreo update out before my warranty runs out.

They pushed it already with more than one update, unless you're tablet is 8704v. And NO ONE is telling you to install the custom rom, we are sharing information.

Exactly the same situation here, just bought it from laptopoutlet, arrived today and have turned it on only to find it is up to date on Nougat. I am very annoyed and don't have time for things like this. I specifically bought it with the knowledge I will be able to update it to Oreo (update matrix says so!). I have contacted Lenovo support and advise you all do to. If nothing can be worked out I shall return it without hesitation and never buy Lenovo devices again.

By the way what is your software version? Mine is TB-8704X_S000004_180131_EE.
