Re: Lenovo Tab 4 8 Plus Oreo update

Well, technically it is Google that writes the updates to android.. they're updating to Q now.. but, of course that isn't what you were asking. Either the person working the help desk doesn't understand the question asked, or understand software in general, or possibly a language barrier. Of course there's always the possibility of all the above......

You should consider buying the ROW version, if you can afford it. Presently development is starting, If that sort of thing interests you. I have PIE on my 8704X plus LTE.

To add to my worries even my warranty is showing as expired, I literally opened the package today! Need to get that checked.

I've had the same issue on two Tab 4s - I simply phoned them and they fixed it immediately.

Re: Lenovo Tab 4 8 Plus Oreo update

This is BS and I’m getting rather fed up with it.  I know my model is not on Lenovo’s list of models due for the Oreo update, but I’ve been assured by Lenovo (repeatedly) that it is supposed to receive the Oreo update nonetheless and I have a case and a case number documenting said conversations.

If it’s not technically up to spec to run Oreo, then how does Samsung manage to make the Galaxy Tab A with virtually the same specs run Oreo?  Is it just a better machine?  Is Samsung just a better company with better engineers, better products, and better programmers?  I’m starting to feel I made a major mistake choosing these tablets.  Someone asked me what I wanted and these models are what I cited.  If I knew that Lenovo was a bunch of creeps sitting on their thumbs and I was aware of the Galaxy and how much more responsive Samsung is I would have chosen the Galaxy and gotten the bigger tablet instead.

@bowden. Why don't you ask them for a status update?

Re: Lenovo Tab 4 8 Plus Oreo update

I just called them for an update now.  They basically told me I’m SOL and admitted they were wrong in the past when they said my model would receive the update.  After considerable begging and browbeating I managed to get a Customer Service number to call so I can lodge a complaint about being mislead (I haven’t called it yet).  I was told this model would receive the Oreo update when it was still returnable and they dragged their feet.  Finally, in March, I insisted they document their claims that it was supposed to receive the update and received a case with a case number.

I’m not happy with Lenovo.  I wish I’d got a Samsung.  At least they support their products and customers.

Maybe you can somehow use the case number and misinformation to force them to give you a refund. It's worth a try. Good luck.
